Days of Our Lives Recap Thursday, May 2: Claire Becomes Insane, Burns Hayley’s Photo As a Sign Of Things To Come – Hayley’s New Life In America Cut Short?
Claire burns Hayley’s photo as her mental state deteriorates following Hayley’s desperate move; Victor to bring the snark as he’s got one more houseguest to worry about.
Losing it
When we last left Claire, she was about to take a lighter to Hayley’s picture after getting tossed out of the apartment. Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) comes in and she hides the incriminating picture and lighter just in time. She gives him some more hell about having to move out, as well as the possible three years they’re going to be stuck in this charade. She gets a brief moment of hope when Tripp tells her she shouldn’t have to move out of her own home, but that hope is dashed when he says he and Hayley will move instead. Yikes.

Claire later moves into Casa Kiriakis, having insisted that she’s not going to make him leave. She brought the pic and lighter with her, though, and finishes what she started, watching the image burn a moment before tossing it in the fireplace. Later, we go back to the loft to see Tripp discovering part of the torn image.
Speaking of Hayley, she’s gone to the hospital to ask for her job back. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) is more than happy to have her there. Before Hayley gets back on duty, they talk a little about the fraud and Hayley’s lingering feelings for JJ. Seriously? In the middle of a busy building? Claire might not have to do a thing to stop the sham.
Problems keep coming
Lani and Eli are having a bit of an issue over Lani planning to take a leave to care for David. He thinks that she’s taking this too far, and that Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) just said he’ll be fine once the sling’s off, and there’s child care options available. Lani argues that Rafe said he didn’t want David with strangers, and they’ve got a routine. Rafe wisely removes himself from the situation and says they can work this out amongst themselves. We don’t blame you, Rafe.
Once Rafe leaves, Lani says there are a lot of sick days she can use instead, but Eli thought they were going to use their sick time to go to Miami together, like they’d talked about before the cartel stuff really got started. And suddenly, that episode feels like forever ago. Lani isn’t swayed, though, and is determined that she is going to take the time off one way or another because David needs her. Eli excuses himself to work on the Holly kidnapping case.

Drama all over
Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) are enjoying the advantage they just got from putting that picture up. The place is in an uproar, and Abe doesn’t help by admitting the picture is real. He somewhat tries to explain, but he’s apparently too worried about Valerie Grant (Vanessa Williams) taking off to handle this smoothly. He actually yells at the reporters to get out of his way. Yeah, that’s going to help.
Sheila Watkins (Tionne Watkins) stays behind and defends Abe, taking full responsibility for what happened, and going on about how Abe was decent enough to not toss her on her ass for it. She then denies being the victim Eve says she is before searching out Abe to resign. And she doesn’t take no for an answer.
As for Abe, he finds Valerie and explains what had really happened, and they both agree that this long-distance thing isn’t working out very well. Besides that, both love their lives elsewhere too much to give them up, so they officially end things.
JJ, angry about his dad’s latest stunt, blurts out his father is the only one who ever forced himself on a woman in this race. After storming off, he realizes what he’s done and visits Kayla to apologize for blurting her business in front of the press. Kayla assures him it’s okay, and it was going to come out sooner or later with all the press Jack’s campaign is getting. She’s approached by a reporter about the allegations and she admits it’s true.
