TLC ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After’ spoilers finds that in the last episode of the show we saw that Karine Martins Staehle decided to go talk to a lawyer and ask about her rights as a Mom. According to Paul Staehle, Karine’s Visa is different than your typical K-91 Visa, she has a CR-1 Visa which affords her all the rights of an American Citizen.
She can work and she can drive, she can do almost anything an American Citizen can, and according to the lawyer that she talked to, she also has the right to travel with her son alone to see her family back in Brazil.
When she told Paul all of this (let’s give her props for being honest with him), he freaked way the hell out. What on earth does he have against her seeing her family? That’s what I don’t get! Karine just said she wanted to go down to Brazil by herself with little Pierre and see her family.
Paul should trust Karine enough to go and see her family with Pierre. But apparently, that automatically puts Paul on the defense because he seems to think that traveling to visit her family means that she’s going to leave him.

That’s not automatically what that means and he shouldn’t assume that, because even though you might have problems within a marriage your partner is not going to leave you just because they express the desire to go visit their family.
This stranglehold that Paul had on her, where he was narcissistically love-bombing Karine and wouldn’t let up is the reason why Karine split. At this point, after seeing what I did tonight, I stan Karine’s decision to leave.
Sometimes a decision has nothing to do with your significant other and it was clear that Karine just wanted to take her son to go and visit her family and be in a place where she didn’t have to be around Paul 24/7. Even the most healthiest of couples take breaks from each other every now and again.
And Paul, there’s social media now, it’s not like she would be leaving without a lifeline! Karine said that Paul doesn’t know when to stop and it’s clear that he doesn’t, and that he was practically smothering her.
Depending on the person, especially people with mental illness, sometimes you need to be alone to recharge, or be around people who don’t drain you. Maybe Karine needed to take some time with her family in order to recharge and not be around Paul and his constant need for attention, which honestly… is annoying.
I could not imagine trying to be in a relationship with someone who couldn’t take my obvious cues to back off when I needed alone time. No wonder the poor girl was barricading herself in the bathroom for hours! I would too! Especially if displays like that were a daily occurence. I don’t know about you but at this point I’m all for the hashtag #freeKarine geeze!!! Stay tuned!!!
