It was an end of an era at UFC 252 this past weekend, as the curtain finally came down on Daniel Cormier’s career. There was an awful lot of respect between Cormier and Stipe Miocic at the end of their Heavyweight Championship bout, in which Miocic was able to claim the win on a decision.
Cormier admitted in the aftermath that his career has now came to an end, but it would still be hard to dispute that he was one of the best athletes to ever step foot in the UFC. These are three of the fights that have stood out throughout his career.

It is hard to start anywhere else that the rivalry between Cormier and Jones, which reached unparalleled levels in 2015. The two athletes had no love lost between them, and it always seemed that they were on a collision course to meet each other when they were in the UFC.
While Cormier was unable to get a win over Jones throughout his career, it is hard to argue against the fact that he was the athlete that really got the best out of his opponent. That fight in 2015 was a tight points success for Jones, but ask any fan, and it easily could have gone either way.

That performance against Jones put Cormier in the title picture for a bout against Anthony Jones for the vacant Light Heavyweight Championship. This was his coming of age performance, and would certainly be the one that was most fondly remembered, as this was the night when he finally showcased just how talented he can be in the UFC.
Cormier was dominant throughout the fight against Johnson, and eventually got the win via rear-naked choke submission in the third round. His performance was awarded with the performance of the night accolade.

His last fight was against his biggest rival in the UFC, and in 2018, he became only the fourth UFC star to win titles at two different weights. The odds were stacked against him against the dominant champion, with Miocic the heavy favourite to claim the win.
However, Cormier showcased his durability in UFC by storming to success inside the first round to win the Heavyweight Championship for the first time. He was able to defend it against Derrick Lewis later in 2018, before losing the gold back to Miocic last year.
