‘Young and the Restless’ spoilers report that the soap opera world was hit hard with the news of the tragic suicide of Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters). Many fans still cannot believe the news! No one took this news harder than Mia St. John, Kristoff’s ex-wife. She opened up to a few sources about what they were talking about the last time they spoke and how his voice sounded.

She spoke with Extra and told them that Kristoff was always the strongest one in their relationship. She referred to him multiple times as her rock. She said that they would talk to each other or video chat every day. Her last phone call with him, on the night that he died, seemed strange and scary to her. She mentioned that he kept talking about how he just wanted to die. She kept encouraging him to keep pushing on and that dying was just not the answer for him right now.

Mia St. John said that Kristoff was very upset when their son died. She felt that he blamed himself for his son’s suicide and it was something that he just could never get over no matter how hard he tried. Their son, Julian, died in 2014. The year prior, he was diagnosed as schizophrenic and he had been fighting depression pretty much his entire life. Kristoff had his fair share of mental illness scares as well. In 2017, he attempted suicide and was put on psychiatric watch for a few days.
Mia wants to spread the word about mental illness and try to educate those who don’t know a lot about it. In our country, so many people don’t want to talk about these issues and we should be open about it and educating ourselves on it. She has spoken about the many fans of the Young and the Restless and their outpouring of love and support for her.

She has been filled with their love and it means the world to her. Mia has been fighting her own demons since Kristoff’s death. She told Extra that after being sober for 30 years, she relapsed recently with the stress and grief of everything that has been happening since Kristoff died. Much like the Alcoholics Anonymous saying, she is taking one day at a time and is trying to get through each day the best that she can. We wish her luck on this journey and we hope that the cast and crew of the Young and the Restless can continue to carry Kristoff’s legacy as well.
