British Royal Famiy News says that Prince William is not only the future King of England, but also someone who can definitely take a hint. The Duke of Cambridge was spotted wearing a face mask while he visited the Oxford Vaccine Group’s facility in Oxford on Wednesday. Here’s what you need to know.
Prince William, along with several other senior members of the British Royal Family, were criticized for not only taking so long to begin making public appearances again when other European royals have been doing so for several weeks now, but also for not wearing face masks. The Duke of Cambridge, along with his wife Kate Middleton, Princess Anne, and even Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles all stepped out for their first royal engagements since the coronavirus pandemic began in mid-March. And while many UK citizens applauded the royals for showing their support by thanking NHS staff members and frontline workers for their duty, many also noticed that they failed to properly cover their faces with masks, even though it’s highly recommended by government officials that they do so, and especially while in public.
British Royal Family News: Prince William Wears Face Mask In Public After Backlash
While at the Oxford Vaccine Group’s facility, Prince William was there to highlight the progress that has been made by Oxford scientists to develop a vaccine for the coronavirus, as human trials have recently begun. It’s been noted that other than Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Prince William has been the only major figure from the royal family to be photographed taking mask precautions during an event.
Of course, Buckingham Palace has not made any comments as to why members of the royal family have not been wearing masks, but some royal fans have been taking their guesses. Could masks ruin a good royal photo op? Maybe.
