ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicate we’ve begun a trip back in time through the Nurses’ Ball. For the next few weeks, we’ll be immersing in the biggest event in Port Charles. And, thankfully, it looks like the PTB will show us the whole thing. Teasers for tomorrow indicate we’ll see the second part of today’s trip to the 2014 event. Let’s talk some of the highlights.

General Hospital Recap Thursday: The Nurses' Ball Promises To Bring a Major Twist

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Don’t stereotype

First of all, we are newer viewers, so the only Ball we’ve seen is the 2019 edition. We’ve also never really seen Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) be anything but a baby-stealing headcase on the verge of self-destruction. Well, until his somewhat redemption when he pled guilty on Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Bernard) orders to spare Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) a big trial. Thanks to this trip back in time, we saw another side of him.

There was a seen with him and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) where they were watching coverage of the red carpet before the big event. She made a comment about how he should be into this, which set Brad off on a thing about not stereotyping him as a gay man. However, General Hospital spoilers indicate his tune changed in literally seconds when he saw one of the outfits on display. Watching his horror at someone wearing a boa and rapt attention was a funny moment. We especially loved the bonding it showed between him and Britt. Particularly when they cracked up over a red carpet oopsie by Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco).

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Are you kidding?

Of course, there was a low point of the episode. In particular, our introduction to Levi Dunkleman (Zachary Garred). His overly judgmental talk about the Ball and everything it symbolizes was a bit off-putting. Yes, it’s great to have beliefs and stand up for them, but he seems about as fun to be around as a dentist about to give you a root canal. We’re glad to read the character didn’t last very long, and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) was rescued from his controlling ways. Although, we did love her admitting she loves all things shallow and the pained expressions as he watched some of the festivities with her.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Kiddie triangle?

In another highlight, we loved getting to see Tyler Christopher on screen as Nikolas Cassadine. It showed a different side of a character, one that isn’t making stupid decisions every five seconds as with the current version. Instead, we got to see him having a night at home with his son and get a sense of how things used to be between them.

General Hospital spoilers reveal, however, he did seem just a touch oblivious in this one. Part of the episode focused on Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) fussing over Cameron Webber (William Lipton) winning Emma Scorpio-Drake (Brooklyn Rae Silzer). We couldn’t help but be amused at the idea of these kids being involved in some romantic drama. What wasn’t so amusing, was seeing Spencer’s drawing of a bloody figure and the couple of comments he made while watching the red carpet with his father. None of which, Nikolas seemed to notice.

ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Show stealer

Our personal favorite moment, though, came from Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati). She opened the Ball by hijacking the Nurses’ planned opening with a dramatic show-stopping number. Literally. It was like crickets in that room when she finished, and it set off a chain reaction of indignance and panic during the performance. Especially for Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring). You can never go wrong with Liesl, in our opinion.

    ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Gotcha

Finally, our favorite moment of the red carpet involved Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero). Our host for the red carpet caught up with her at the wrong moment, and it showed a “gotcha” reporter in action. This guy grabbed an obviously busy and distracted Olivia and started asking her questions without mentioning they were on TV. This led to catching her complain about Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) leaving her hanging on the prep work. Oops! And the poor girl wasn’t even dressed in her red carpet outfit.
