CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the character of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has been a powerhouse on the show for decades. He’s been masterfully portrayed and the king of the Newman family has been loving, unwavering, and demanding with his iconic voice. However, with Braeden being nearly 80 years old, we have to ask the question. When/if he retires from acting, who can possibly step up into a role like that?
The role has made Braeden an icon, and his years of commanding the small-screen have made him recognizable to people outside the soap genre. These are big shoes to fill when the time comes, so who would have what it takes? To be honest, I can’t even imagine his son, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) stepping up into that role. He still acts like a college frat boy. Sure, he has his moments of responsibility and he shines, but those are far and in between.

CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Big Shoes To Fill – Who Could Take On A “Victor-like” Role?
His second son, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) might eventually be able to step up into that kind of role, but that would take several more years of character development. As it stands, he has the motivation and intent that Victor had, along with the grit to get things done.
However, someone I think could really step up into a bigger role, while not being a Newman, is Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Sure, he wouldn’t literally take over the spot that Victor leaves, but as someone to butt heads with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and rise up through the ranks of Genoa City. I think Billy is not only an interesting character, but Jason Thompson is probably one of the best actors on the show. Billy could rise up and become a core character of the show if the writers let him. Would be really want to see them push a character like Nick into that kind of power role? I don’t think it’d meld well. What do you think? What character could rise up in the future in place of a Victor Newman? Let us know in the comments below.
