The Bold and the Beautiful, All My Children, General Hospital, and yes, Passions. Those are just a few of the classic soaps of the past and of course the present that fans are still talking about today thanks to all of the classic episodes and virtual reunions that are taking place now that production has been suspended because of the coronavirus. For those who are saying that ‘soaps’ are dead or that they have been replaced by unscripted reality television shows, they might want to think again. That’s because die-hard soap fans are the ones who have continued to make daytime television as popular as it still is today. Here’s why.

Many daytime television fans of the past and present that are now sitting at home because of the coronavirus quarantine have expressed their excitement over all of the virtual cast reunions of soaps of yesterday and today, along with all of the classic episodes that the major networks are airing as a replacement until the soaps are up and filming again.

Actress Liza Huber, who is best known for her role as Gwen Hotchkiss Winthrop on Passions (and as the real life daughter of All My Children and soap royalty Susan Lucci), recently shared a throwback photo of the Passions cast (which includes Justin Hartley). She captioned her photo with, “Yessss! The Passions virtual cast reunion is tomorrow! Ahhhhh, can’t wait! Join us for a fan interaction Q&A to benefit COVID-19 relief efforts in memory of the show’s late Executive Producer, Lisa de Cazotte.”

Of course, it didn’t take very long for Liz’s social media fans to respond to the photo with much excitement. Many comments have included, “Omgosh! I remember watching the 1st episode! I watched more but I really remember the commercials leading up to it,” along with, “How many years has it been? Omg, I was a teen when I watched this!” Another fan wrote, “Been waiting to hear you would join to, I mean what is a reunion without our Gwennie.”
