The Young and the Restless star recently opened up in a special Q&A with his social media followers about all of the dramatic twists and turns that have been going on in Genoa City lately. The actor plays Victor Newman on the series. Here’s what you need to know.
‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Eric Braeden Confirms Josh Griffith As New Head Writer
First up, Eric confirmed to his fans that Josh Griffith is indeed the new head writer and that he is someone he is very fond of. Former Executive Producer and head writer Mal Young announced that he would be leaving the soap last month. The new Executive Producer is now Tony Marina and according to Eric, the new material should air sometime in the next three to four weeks.

During the Q&A, Eric also said that he hopes to work with his son, actor Christian Gudegast in a few upcoming projects. He also said what many fans have been thinking for a long time now: he doesn’t think the character Adam Newman will be recast, even though rumors have recently sprung up that he might be. He also talked about working with the iconic actress Jeanne Cooper, who he absolutely adores.
Eric also made a shocking revelation that stunned fans. He admitted that the former head writer was looking to get rid of Victor Newman. Eric said rather bluntly, “Well, let me be very honest with you. There was an attempt by the former Executive Producer/Head Writer to diminish the role of Victor Newman. I say very clearly and very succinctly he attempted to diminish it, to bring the character down. Never forgive him for that, but he’s gone, bye-bye.”
