‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers suggest that everyone’s attitude toward Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is ridiculous.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: The Hypocrisy of the Newman Family Is Astounding
Victor Newman (Eric Braden) has taken over companies countless times in the past, and not a single person has dared to call him out for his ruthlessness.
The intense, dramatic reactions to Phyllis taking over Newman are so over-the-top, and frankly, it’s getting old. The hypocrisy of many of Genoa City’s residents toward Phyllis is utterly astounding.
Victor spent decades manipulating others, stealing businesses, and breaking the law, only for the same thing to happen to him, leaving the characters outraged!
Phyllis gave Victor a much-needed taste of his own medicine. Am I the only one who is team Phyllis here? Even her kids’ reactions are insane.
Interestingly, Phyllis pointed this out to her son, Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Grazadei), today after her daughter, Summer Newman (Allison Lanier), wrote her mother a letter, disowning her.
Phyllis rightfully told Daniel that if one of the men in town had been the one to claim the Newman empire for themselves, no one would mind.
Daniel’s illogical response?
“I don’t care about everyone else, I care about what you do.”
What?? Phyllis saw an opportunity and took it, plain and simple. Good for her.
Oh, and in the letter Summer wrote, she crucified her mom for her “despicable actions.” Is Summer just totally okay with Victor targeting the Abbotts and their companies, Jabot and Marchetti?
Yet somehow she can’t fathom or stomach the idea of someone other than Victor seizing an empire. It’s apparently perfectly fine and dandy for Victor to lie, cheat, and steal, but when Phyllis does it, it’s a cardinal sin.

Josh Griffith loves to make villains of people like Phyllis, especially women who go after what they want and fight for position, while propping up others who don’t deserve it.
Remember, when Victor had the AI program, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) never mentioned Summer once. The entire Newman family is spoiled and entitled, yet they tend to judge everyone else for their so-called “transgressions.”
Look at Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). What grown a** woman repeatedly refers to her father as “Daddy”? Victoria is perhaps the worst of all because she condones literally everything Victor does, no matter how heinous!
If Victor stole another family’s company, she wouldn’t exactly lose sleep over it. She would undoubtedly pat her father on the back and tell him how swell he is, as if his ego needs more stroking.
The Newman clan is literally being treated like victims. Phyllis is simply acting like a “Viper” in a town that’s full of them.
Again, the hypocrisy of Phyllis’s children, the Newmans, and pretty much everyone in that ridiculous town is absurd. It’s really nauseating to watch.
The Newmans demand sympathy, yet they lack accountability for their immoral decisions. That family has wealth coming out of their overprivileged a**es!
Yes, some of Phyllis’s actions are extreme, but I am team Phyllis on this one. The sheer amount of hate directed at Phyllis isn’t justifiable. Not when Victor Newman still exists.
