‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers share that Camryn Grimes, who plays Mariah Copeland on Y&R, recently dished to Soap Opera Digest on a potential “Teriah” reunion.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Daniel Is Stepping Aside So Tessa and Mariah Can Work On Their Marriage
Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) wants to find out whether there is any hope for her and Mariah to repair their relationship and get their marriage back on track. So, many fans are getting their wish as it looks like these two are on the road to a reunion.
However, Mariah feels the need to punish herself for kidnapping Dominic Winters (Ethan Ray Clark). She thinks she’s not good enough for Tessa, and she told Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Grazadei) as much the other day.
Despite Tessa still having feelings for her estranged wife, Mariah, she moved on with Daniel. Yet, Daniel is doing a very noble thing by stepping aside and letting Tessa and Mariah try to work things out.
Grimes shared with SOD,
“I think healing is going to be a step-by-step process for her, and it’s going to have to come slowly and intentionally.”
Mariah had kept a very dark secret from her wife for a long time. Apparently, she killed someone while she was on a business trip last year.
She had asked Tessa for a separation and went to Boston to seek mental health treatment. Mariah left the hospital and sought refuge in an old motel.
It was there that she had very disturbing visions of Ian Ward (Ray Wise). Ian was the leader of a cult called The New World Commune that Mariah had been involved with.
Ian was the manipulative leader who raised Mariah shortly after her birth. It was revealed later on that Ian had separated Mariah from her twin sister, Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes), and brought her up in his cult.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Mariah Knows She Desperately Needs Help
Ian prompted Mariah to kidnap Dominic, who is the baby she gave birth to as a surrogate for Devon Winters (Bryton James) and Abby Winters (Melissa Ordway).
After returning to Genoa City after a long time on the run with Dominic, Mariah discovered that Tessa had filed for divorce and was romantically involved with Danel.
However, Daniel is well aware that “Tessa and Mariah have unfinished business.” Daniel encouraged Tessa to follow her heart and see whether it leads her back to Mariah or to him.
Mariah knows she desperately needs help. While her lawyer, Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell), has advised Mariah to accept the plea deal she’s being offered, Mariah is hesitant, believing she should be locked up for what she did.
Grimes reported to SOD,
“Speaking to whom Mariah has become in the past 10 years of being in Genoa City, I think it’s safe to say that there’s going to be a fair amount of self-punishment and reckoning,”
The actress explains.
“I don’t think she’s a person who lets herself off easy and forgives herself very easily. Which is, I think, one of the reasons why [the events of the past year have] re-triggered her in the first place,”
She added.
The actress continued,
“There are deep, deep wounds there. I think she thought she healed them, and she didn’t. So this is another thing she’ll have to contend with. And if she’s going to have any real healing, she’s going to have to get to the root of, honestly, her opinion of herself and who she really, really is.”
