‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal that when Renee Jones left the role of Lexie Carver on DOOL in 2012, she asked that her character be killed off.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The DOOL Writers Agreed to Put Lexie to Rest After Renee Jones Left the Role
At the time, the writers honored her wishes as Lexie was diagnosed with cancer after being trapped in the DiMera tunnels by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis).
Lexie had developed an inoperable brain tumor that proved fatal. She passed away in her beloved husband, Abe Carver’s (James Reyolds) arms, and that was all she wrote.
Up until now. Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) and EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) decided to bring Lexie back to life.

After all, it was EJ’s father, Stefano DiMera (Joe Mascolo), who died wishing that Lexie be resurrected. Apparently, in Salem, no one ever stays dead.
The potential miracle cure Dr. Rolf created means the stakes in life-or-death situations on DOOL are never a dealbreaker.

So, are we to assume that if someone receives a heartbreaking diagnosis, they can just be resurrected again should a DiMera deem it beneficial to them if that person is alive? We know how much the DiMeras love to ressurect their own.
Now, Lexie is being played by Nikki Crawford, who is a beautiful woman and most likely wonderful actress, but perhaps she should have been given a different role out of respect for Renee Jones’ gut-wrenching work during those final scenes.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: What Are EJ’s True Motives for Resurrecting Lexie?
But here we are, nonetheless. We have no idea what EJ’s true motives are for resurrecting his long-dead sister. Is he doing this because he’s a devoted son and brother, or is there some other reason?
Right now, it kind of looks like EJ wants payback on Paulina Price Carver (Jackee Harry) and the money he’ll undoubtedly make from this game-changing cure.
Look, I adore EJ. However, he’s coming across as greedy and selfish with this particular storyline. Like Paulina said, “Miracles don’t come from the devil.”

Not to mention, I was very disappointed that EJ was willing to harm Stephanie Johnson Kiriakis (Abigail Klein). I thought that was a new low, even for our loveable but dastardly EJ DiMera.
So, now that Lexie is suddenly being resurrected, the stakes are raised in Abe Carver’s (James Reynolds) marriage to Paulina.

However, DOOL’s decision to bring Lexie back isn’t exactly a good look after they promised to put the beloved character to bed. Plus, many fans are upset over this.
Longtime fans may recall that Renee Jones quit acting to live a quiet life with her family and focus on her faith, which is admirable. Her departing ask was for Lexie to be given a beautiful death and a moving send-off.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Why Not Bring Abigail Back for Chad?
Additionally, EJ’s motives haven’t been adequately explained, aside from her being a randomly selected DiMera and the fact that he and Dr. Rolf were eager to test their groundbreaking experiment.
There are others he could have brought back, like, since it seems EJ is romantically drawn to Cat Greene (AnnaLynn McCord), he could have resurrected Abigail Deveraux DiMera (Marci Miller) for Chad DiMera’s (Billy Flynn) sake.
But I guess poor Chad never gets the break he deserves. Also, the DOOL writers have admitted that Lexie’s return isn’t permanent, so it makes even less sense to us why they are bringing the character back in the first place if not for keeps. EJ is going to all this trouble, of course.
It would have been far more advantageous for DOOL to bring in a recast Abigail. Soon, Conner Floyd will assume the role of Chad, which would have generated much more material in the long run and given many fans what they have wanted since Abby’s death.
