‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers suggest that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) is spiraling as she’s lost control of her mental health and kidnapped Dominic Newman-Abbott-Winters-Chancellor (Ethan Ray Clark).
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Tessa Explained to Abby and Devon, Tessa Isn’t In Her Right Mind
We ask fans: Should she go to prison or to a mental health facility? Spoilers hint that Abby Winters (Melissa Ordway) will want Mariah to be put behind bars, but Devon Winters (Bryton James) may propose a more compassionate approach.
Since Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) has explained to the frightened couple that Mariah isn’t in her right mind, Devon will likely feel that Mariah should receive mental health treatment.
Spoilers also tease that Abby and Devon will disagree on how to handle the situation, and that it will ultimately affect their marriage.
We are unsure of which way it should go. Obviously, Mariah has experienced a severe break with reality. She’s seeing visions of Ian Ward (Ray Wise) and obeying his every command. Ian was Mariah’s cult leader, and he’s one of the most evil villains in soap land.
However, when she checked herself into an institution, she didn’t try to get better. She ended up checking herself out shortly after.
Mariah is facing felony charges for kidnapping Dominic. There are two possible outcomes of Mariah’s actions: she either goes to prison or is found mentally incompetent to stand trial.
If the second choice is the outcome, she’ll be forced into mental health treatment. Spoilers also indicate that Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) will represent Mariah as her lawyer in this case.
It makes sense given that Tessa is dating Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Grazadei) and Christine is his stepmother. Since Mariah also crossed state lines with the child, the charges are more serious.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: The Situation Will Soon Become Very Complicated Due to Shared Family Ties
Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will undoubtedly push for Mariah to receive treatment at a psych hospital.
It’s going to be a very complicated situation, given that Abby, Devon, and Mariah share some close family ties. That said, Abby is hysterical over Dominic’s disappearance, and she’ll want the book thrown at Mariah.
Meanwhile, Tessa and Daniel seem to be headed for their own happy ending. It leaves Mariah out in the cold, as she’s the one who pushed her wife and child away. Now, Tessa has filed for divorce.
Therefore, we are unsure of what the future holds for Mariah and if she can even be redeemed after this. She kidnapped a little boy and terrified two loving parents into thinking they might never see their son again.
However, if she goes into mental health treatment and genuinely puts in the work to get better, she may be redeemed after all.
Some fans are also speculating that Mariah may be leaving Y&R altogether. It’s sad, since she’s the daughter of a legacy character, Sharon, and has strong ties to Genoa City.
We have to wonder how the soap will choose to handle Mariah’s consequences. Whether they go the mental hospital or the prison route, it will be difficult for some people to forgive Mariah for what she’s done, especially Abby.
