Prince William and Kate Middleton threw a pub party to thank their staff for helping them with their early move into their new forever home at Forest Lodge in Windsor.
The Wales Family Vacated From Adelaide Cottage And Moved Into Forest Lodge This Past Weekend
The Daily Mail confirmed that the royal couple and their children vacated Adelaide Cottage on Saturday, November 1st.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were keen to provide their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, with a fresh start after they experienced “the hardest year of their lives.”
Last year, Kate was diagnosed with cancer and underwent treatment. She announced her diagnosis shortly after King Charles revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer.
Thankfully, Kate is now in remission and she’s cancer-free, which she happily shared with royal fans this past September.
The experience was “mentally scarring” for the family. William described this past year as “brutal.” Major family challenges hit them hard.
The ordeal also prompted them to make decisions that were best for themselves and their children. Their home at Adelaide Cottage was filled with unhappy memories. William felt like the house had been “cursed.”
In addition to their mother and grandfather being diagnosed with cancer in 2024, their great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away in September 2022.
A source close to the royal family said,
“Adelaide Cottage really does have some difficult memories associated with it.”
They continued,
“They have experienced some of their most challenging times there. The family is pleased about this move and excited for the fresh start.”
However, the Wales family must temporarily contend with Prince Andrew living nearby at Royal Lodge.
One Of The Downsides To Their Move: Andrew Still Lives At Royal Lodge For Now
One of the original stipulations for the move was that William and Kate wanted the disgraced Prince out before they relocated.
Unfortunately, Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, won’t be leaving Royal Lodge until the New Year, which means Kate and William must put up with them until then.
The heir to the throne has long made it clear that the King should take a harder line with Andrew. William didn’t want his disgraced uncle’s shenanigans to carry over into his own reign.
The Wales family was also worried about the Windsor estate being tainted with its association with Andrew.
This past weekend, William and Kate held a pub party at the York club to celebrate the move and show their gratitude to those staff members who helped them settle in.
The builders and staff worked hard to get them into their new home ahead of schedule. Catherine and William had initially planned to move into Forest Lodge before Christmas.
They were ahead of schedule to make sure the family had moved before Bonfire Night and during the children’s half-term break from school.
Forest Lodge has been described as Kate and William’s forever home. The couple plans to remain there even after William becomes King.
Their new mansion is an upgrade from the more modest Adelaide Cottage. Their new abode features eight bedrooms, six bathrooms, a gallery, a separate staff flat, a tennis court, and a beautiful pond.
