Peacock Networks Armas de Mujer News indicates a new role is in Kate del Castillo (Alice Braga)’s future. The actress, who rocketed to fame as Teresa Mendoza in La Reina del Sur (Queen of the South) is taking on a new medium. Sort of. At the recent conference, she appeared to talk her new series Armas de Mujer (Women’s weapons). There’s something a little different about this part, though. Here’s what you need to know.

Peacock Networks Armas de Mujer News: New home

Everyone knows streaming is a huge thing now. With the success of Netflix and Hulu, every major network is getting into the streaming game. The latest entry is NBC with Peacock Network. The streaming service will debut early this year, and features old and new content owned by the network. While we don’t know the details of what is available for each, there will be a free and premium level. We assume premium will be what gets you original content, and will cost 4.99 a month. So, what’s up with Kate’s new show?

Peacock Networks Armas de Mujer News: The plot

This series will focus on a group of women that come together when they learn a horrible secret. It seems their husbands are all involved in organized crime, making this a perfect fit for the actress who played a queen of drug trafficking. The series is being billed as a dramatic comedy, which we find interesting. It’ll be cool to see another side to Castillo, who showed some serious dramatic chops in the latest season of La Reina del Sur. Speaking of the show, we’ve also learned through the NATPE event that the series is produced by the team behind her Telemundo hit. Looks like they’ve decided not to mess with success, and we think that’s a smart move. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how it all turns out. But in the meantime, fans can see the actress elsewhere.

Peacock Networks Armas de Mujer News: In theaters

Currently, Castillo can be seen in theaters in the new Bad Boys movie, Bad Boys for Life. Castillo plays Isabel Aretas, a former head of a drug cartel. Interesting parallel to her La Reina character. Interestingly enough, LRDS co-star Paola Nuñez plays Rita in the film. It seems these two might be on opposite sides of the law once again, as Nunez plays a member of a tech team gathering evidence against an arms dealer. On LRDS, she played Manuela Cortes, an agent with a grudge against Teresa. Looks like these two are having quite a crossover career already. Kate has appeared on shows like Grimm, Dallas, and CSI: Miami. Nuñez had parts on The Son, as well as The Purge.
