‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Bryton James, who plays Devon Winters on Y&R, is experiencing some real-life drama.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: James Was Married To Jahaira Meyers
James filed for divorce from his wife, Jahaira, after they had separated in June. The couple tied the knot in March this year.
The actor is citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the legal separation and is asking the court to terminate either party’s spousal support obligations.
James has also asked Jahaira to cease using his last name and return to her maiden name, Meyers, once the divorce is finalized.
Many fans were shocked to learn that Bryton was married in the first place. James has kept his relationship with Jahaira private.
Prior to Jahaira, Bryton was married to Ashley Leisinger. They were married in March 2011. The ceremony was performed by his Y&R co-star, Christian J. LeBlanc, who plays Michael Baldwin on the soap. James’s first marriage also ended in divorce in 2014.
However, only a few months ago, it was reported that James had a new woman in his life. Jahaira Meyeres had also performed as a professional dancer onstage with Beyoncé during her uber-successful Cowboy Carter tour.
James had posted a now-deleted Instagram message in May featuring photos of Jahaira performing onstage with Beyoncé.
He said,
“What you’re looking at is the culmination of a lifetime of work, discipline, dedication, strength, bravery, and belief that my love, Jahaira, continues to exude.”
He continued,
“Her journey is what inspiration wants to be when it grows up. And I am beyond proud to be a witness to her art as we share this life together.”
Jahaira responded to his post,
“Sharing this life and this stage with you is the greatest gift. Thank you for seeing me the way you do.”
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Devon’s Marriage May Soon Face Some Challenges
Bryton was also in a relationship with his former Y&R co-star, Bryni Sarpy, who played Elena Dawson. They lived together for some time before they split.
In 2021, Bryton was a guest on Maurice Benard’s podcast, State of Mind, about mental health. Benard plays Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital.
On the show, Bernard and James discussed divorce and remarriage. James admitted to Benard,
“I don’t think I would get married again because I have different ideas about the institution of marriage, and where it comes from, and what it’s about.”
Bryton and Bryni broke up in 2023. James recently made a crossover appearance on Beyond the Gates in August.
He offered Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) a recording contract, but she turned him down. While visiting Fairmont Crest, he also crossed paths with the one and only Dani Dupree (Karla Mosely).
It was the first on-screen crossover on BTG. As for Devon on Y&R, his on-screen marriage to Abby Winters (Melissa Ordway) may soon be in trouble.
We have to wonder if Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) has a few tricks up her sleeve where Devon is concerned. Could Devon and Amanda hook up?
Devon may face some temptation when it comes to Amanda. Regardless, you’ll have to wait and see what the soap has in store for Devon Winters next.
