The Young and the Restless spoilers confirm yet another casting shocker. Hot on the heels of the news that Days of Our Lives and General Hospital vet, Tamara Braun, is joining Y&R, now we learn that General Hospital alum, Roger Howarth, is also coming to Y&R.

‘The Young and The Restless’ Spoilers: Y&R Has Recruited Several Daytime Stars Recently

The CBS soap has recently snatched up several talented daytime actors and actresses. Billy Flynn, who can still be seen as Chad DiMera on Days of Our Lives, is now on Y&R as Cane Ashby.

Y&R has also recruited Tamara Braun, who played the second Carly Corinthos and later Kim Nero on General Hospital and Ava Vitali on Days of Our Lives.

Now, they have managed to pluck Roger Howarth, who played Franco Baldwin and Austin Gatlin Holt on General Hospital.

Tamara is set to play a new character, Sienna Bacall. Howarth will play a mystery character. Both soap superstars are coming to Genoa City in the fall.

It will be a fun reunion for Flynn and Braun, who played together on Days, and Howarth with Braun, who also appeared on GH at the same time.

Unfortunately, the details about Howarth’s character are being kept under wraps. Howarth is also known for his roles as Todd Manning on One Life to Live and Paul Ryan on As the World Turns.

Howarth completed his last soap run as Austin Gatlin Holt on General Hospital in November 2023 when his character was fatally shot.

Sadly, the mystery surrounding Austin’s death has never been solved. However, he was mentioned last year by Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy).

Joss suspected that digitalis killer, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), was responsible for Austin’s mysterious death. Roger was beloved in his role as Franco Baldwin on GH, and he’ll also reunite with one of his leading ladies, Michelle Stafford, who plays Phyllis Summers on Y&R.

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Howarth Will Be Reunited With Old Friends At Y&R

Stafford played on GH as the original Nina Reeves and was paired with Howarth’s character, Franco. Howarth announced on Instagram that he would debut on Y&R in the fall.

He wrote, “Excited and appreciative. I’m a lucky guy.” He also shared a mirror selfie, in which he crossed his fingers and added “Y” and “R” to the image.

Interestingly, Howarth and Braun both join Y&R this coming autumn. Perhaps they share a connection. That said, it’s suspected the two mysterious characters may be associated with Cane Ashby.

We also have to wonder if Y&R is bringing back Tucker McCall in the form of Roger Howarth. After all, the last actor to assume the role of Todd Manning on One Life to Live was Trevor St. John, following Howarth’s exit from the now-defunct soap.

He was also the last actor to play Tucker. It would be a fascinating coincidence. It would also explain why Howarth’s character wasn’t described as “new.”

At the time Howarth left GH in November 2023, he wrote a wonderful message on Instagram,

“Daytime fans are lovely and amazing and supportive and dedicated, and I am deeply grateful to each sparkly one of them.”

    He continued,

“I enjoyed my time on General Hospital and wish the cast and crew the best and continued success. It was a pleasure working with you all.”

    Howarth added,

“Life is amazing. We just don’t EVER know what’s gonna happen. How great! Turn toward the light. Always. Huge thank you to you all.”
