‘Beyond the Gates’ (BTG) spoilers reveal that Trisha Mann Grant, who plays Leslie Thomas on BTG, recently shared with TV Insider the shocking twist of Leslie Thomas’s birth story with Barbara Mitchell (Sherita Bolden).
Beyond The Gates Spoilers: Leslie Is Barbara Mitchell’s Daughter
Leslie recently came into a massive reversal of fortune as she’s learned from Peaches (Arle Michel) that the woman who gave birth to her was, in fact, the fallen Articulette, Barbara, who died by suicide.
Peaches is about to die, and she wants to clear her conscience. Barbara left her baby, who was Leslie, to Peaches. She told Leslie the truth about her complicated past. Now that Leslie has come into Dupree’s money, she’s singing Jesus’s praises for this stroke of luck.
Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) has suffered intense guilt because of leaving the group and starting her successful solo career. For years, the Articulette singing group members held a grudge against Anita, and she has put in a lot of work to try to get them to forgive her.
They all had to move past the pain of the past and move forward. In the August 20th episode of BTG, Leslie confronted Anita. She expressed that Anita threw Barbara away and blamed her for her mother’s suicide.
As the conversation grew increasingly more heated, Anita could no longer bear to listen to Leslie’s accusatory rant and slapped Leslie across the face.
Apparently, Leslie stands to inherit a fortune, and ironically, Anita is in charge of the funds. Fairmont Crest better watch out, as Lesie now knows she’s made of Dupree money.
Beyond The Gates Spoilers: Leslie Is “Not Just A Complete Monster”
Leslie is a natural-born plotter and schemer. She never misses a beat. However, her portrayer, Trisha-Mann Grant, insists that Leslie does have a heart underneath all that bravado.
Mann-Grant says,
“She has a softer side. She’s not just a complete monster. I believe there are people out there who will be able to relate to Leslie in this moment, and it’s going to touch some hearts and bring some tears.”
She continued,
“This is true to life, and it will be hurtful and devastating. So, get your box of tissues ready, because it’s a bit of an emotional ride.”
Mann Grant acknowledges that playing Leslie has been a rewarding acting challenge. She appreciates the writers giving her a juicy story from the start.
The actress deserves praise for her storyline involving the stunning reveal of her long-ago affair with Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) in front of a room full of Duprees and company at Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party.
Mann Grant has also played beautifully in scenes opposite Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) and her onscreen daughter, Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle).
Of course, we would be remiss not to mention Leslie’s collection of crazy wigs and her tenacious spirit.
The actress admits that she was just as surprised by what was in store for Leslie as the audience was. Although it was suspected for some time that Leslie might be Barbara’s daughter.
Mann Grant loves that she’s had so much to do since the soap premiered in February, “It means a lot to me. I’m grateful. I understand the assignment, and I am ready to fly higher and higher and soar with every storyline they throw at me.”
