‘Days Of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers suggest that Sami Brady (Alison Sweeny) is a complicated character. She’s endured a lot of pain over the years and has also caused pain for the people she’s closest to.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Sami Showed True Growth As A Character
The talk Sami and Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) had at EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) bedside was long overdue. Sweeny and Boatman delivered powerhouse performances that were raw and emotional.

The April 11th episode allowed Sami and Johnny to talk about her past traumas involving sexual abuse and violence.
She admitted that she had once been the abuser herself when she drugged Austin Reed (Patrick Muldoon) so he would have sex with her.
Sami even mentioned Alan Harris (Paul Kersey) and the role he played in this nightmarish web of horror she lived through.
She owned up to her mistakes and showed actual growth as a character. The soap mined Days’ rich history as viewers were able to hear Sami’s painful story.
Sami recounted the night EJ forced her to have sex with him and communicated to Johnny how he was conceived.

Sweeny and Boatman hit a home run. Boatman demonstrated Johnny’s quiet sadness as tears streamed down his face while he listened to his mother.
Sami was able to be honest about her behavior patterns and how her trauma led her to believe she wasn’t deserving of love, so she fixated on men.
She described her relationship with EJ as “complicated” and “tumultuous.” Sami also admitted to her son that she probably loved EJ more than she had ever loved any other man in her life.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Johnny Has A New Understanding Of His Mother
Not only was this arc beautifully written and magnificently performed, but the way the show was shot as Boatman and Sweeny were talking also merits recognition.

The focus of the episode was mainly on Sami and Johnny, and even when they cut to another scene when they returned to Johnny and Sami, they allowed the conversation to flow naturally without suddenly stopping.
Johnny finally understood how Sami was able to forgive his father for raping her. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Boatman explained how those scenes changed Johnny’s perception.
“I think having his mom tell him she’s okay now helps Johnny a lot,”
He said.
“Seeing that she’s kind of recovered from this and is able even to justify it makes Johnny feel a little more comfortable about it happening,”
Boatman asserted.
“He knows his mom hasn’t been living with some kind of emotionally agonizing pain for the last 20-odd years,”
He said.
However, Johnny is not ready to forgive his father for what he’s done. He admitted to Chanel DiMera (Raven Bowens) that Johnny looked at EJ in his hospital bed, and all he could think about was how his father raped his mother and that he deserved to get shot.

The scenes between Johnny and Sami are compelling and poignant. We have the chance to hear about Sami’s experiences from her point of view.
Fans watched Sami literally grow up before their eyes. Sami shared her story with her son so candidly that it reminded us of how far she’s come.
