Kate Middleton joined her husband, Prince William, King Charles and Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester yesterday for the annual Commonwealth Day Services.

This Year’s Commonwealth Day Marked The 80th Anniversary Of The End Of World War II

The commemorations marked the 80th centenary of the ending of the Second World War and it was a celebration of the Family of Nations, which is how the Commonwealth is often described.

It was the first time the Princess of Wales attended the event since her cancer treatment. Kate looked radiant and dignified as usual as she walked with William. She was wearing a bold red Catherine Walker Beau Tie coat dress, which featured a fashionable bow.

Her jewelry was also notable as she accessorized with pearl earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana. She also wore the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Japanese pearl choker.

King Charles and Princess Kate were forced to miss this significant royal event last year due to their respective cancers.

Kate is still making a gradual return to her public duties after announcing in January that her cancer is in remission.

Some celebrities also attended the festivities, including former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, world-champion cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, with his wife, Sarra Kemp, and actress Baroness Floella Benjamin.

Others in attendance were Prime Minister Keir Starmer, his deputy, Angela Rayner, the Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch, Prime Minister of Samoa Fiame Naomi Mata’afa, and the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Baroness Scotland.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were greeted by Dr. David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster. They met before the appearance of Charles and Camilla.

King Charles’s annual Commonwealth Day speech was published before the event at Westminster Abbey in London. The King praised the “sacrifice” and “selflessness” of Commonwealth forces who bravely fought alongside Britain and their allies.

The King Released A Music Playlist For Commonwealth Day

In part of the King’s speech, he spoke of the importance of unity among the nations,

“In these uncertain times, where it is all too easy to believe that our differences are problems, instead of a source of strength and an opportunity for learning, the Commonwealth’s remarkable collection of nations and peoples come together in the spirit of support, and, crucially, friendship.”

The service yesterday included special musical performances. Traditional Masai singers, acrobats, dancers, and percussionists were all on hand to celebrate the occasion.

Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, violinist Braimah Kenneh-Mason performed, and his sister, Jeneba, played the piano during the service.

Charles and Camilla were also invitees of the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Baroness Scotland, at the yearly Commonwealth evening reception.

Andrew Lloyd Webber sat next to King Charles

Andrew Lloyd Webber performed a song to commemorate the inaugural Commonwealth Peace Prize. Charles released a playlist he created for Commonwealth Day in collaboration with Apple Music.

Some of King’s surprising and eclectic music choices include Beyonce, Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, Michael Buble’, Grace Jones, Diana Ross, Raye, Al Bowlly, and Millie Small.

This year’s Commonwealth theme was “Together We Thrive,” celebrating the “enduring spirit of the Commonwealth family.”

Throughout the event, Prince William and Kate Middleton were seen sweetly admiring each other and warmed royal fans. They were delighted to see them in public together again, showing that they are the ultimate royal power couple.
