‘Days Of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers suggest that Johnny DiMera’s (Carson Boatman) and Chanel Dupree DiMera’s (Raven Bowens) adoption plans could backfire.
Tate Black (Leo Howard) and Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) put their child up for adoption since neither one of them is ready to be a parent.

It wasn’t a coincidence that Johnny and Chanel happened to be at Horton Square and ran into Tate, who mentioned that he and Sophia were giving the baby up to a Christian couple from church. Tate and Sophia’s hopes were dashed when the couple backed out.
It seemed like fate that Johnny and Chanel were later informed by Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) that Chanel might not be able to carry a baby to term. Then, afterward, they ran into Tate at the hospital.
Tate told them about the adoption plans falling through, and Johnny and Chanel exchanged knowing glances before telling Tate he may have just found a couple willing to raise the baby.
Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nielson) finally understands that Sophia and Tate love the baby so much they want to make sure they find loving parents who are capable and ready for a child.
Amy is willing to approve the adoption, providing the couple is upstanding and religious, neither of which describes Johnny and Chanel.
The DiMera name is notorious in Salem. The DiMeras family is known to have killed, stolen, lied, and bribed their way into getting what they wanted.
Johnny’s father is the infamous EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel). As DA, EJ used his power to settle scores and personal grudges.
His deceptive and self-serving nature is widely known. His father is also the late and even more infamous Stefano DiMera (Joe Mascolo).
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Tate May Not Be The Father
The devil also possessed Johnny. Amy is devoutly religious, and this would obviously pose a dilemma for her when she finds out who is interested in adopting her grandchild.
Johnny and Chanel are also obviously not the churchgoing couple Sophia and Tate had initially planned to give their baby to. Amy’s faith seems to be very important to her.
Another potential issue could be that Tate may not even be the father of Sophia’s baby. Sophia was desperate to break up Tate and Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) so she could have Tate for herself.
It’s not inconceivable that Sophia may have lied about the paternity of her child. Many Days fans suspect that Sophia may have slept with someone else off-screen. Perhaps Aaron Greene (Louis Tomeo) is the real father. Tate never asked Sophia for a paternity test.
If Aaron realizes that the baby could be his, he may demand a paternity test. If the bundle of joy Sophia is carrying belongs to him, he may not sign off on adoption, leaving Johnny and Chanel heartbroken again.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Amy Could Sue For Custody
Another factor is that this story is set up for a classic soapy custody case. Sophia is almost 18 years old and soon won’t technically need her mom’s permission to give Johnny and Chanel her baby.
Amy could sue Johnny and Chanel and argue in court that the couple are unfit parents. Amy may even oppose the idea of Johnny and Chanel raising the baby. She may want to keep the child, whether Sophia agrees or not.
While we don’t know Amy that well, we know she’s a force to be reckoned with. She could easily fight for custody.
She may not have the right to the child, but stranger things have happened in Salem. Imagine the soapy possibilities if EJ gets involved. He may have met his match in Amy.
Finally, Sophia could change her mind and decide to keep her baby. It’s hard to tell how this story ends. Unfortunately, Johnny and Chanel could be setting themselves up for heartache and disappointment.
