‘Beyond the Gates’ (BTG) Spoilers is a groundbreaking new soap that will premiere on CBS on February 24, 2025. It’s the first African American soap since “Generations,” which aired from March 1989 to January 1991.
‘Beyond The Gates’ Spoilers: We Weren’t Ready For The Marshall Family On Generations, But We’re Ready For The Duprees Now
When Generations aired, the US wasn’t ready for an African American soap. It suffered poor ratings and a lack of support from the NBC network.
Not to mention, it went up against the second half of “The Young and the Restless.” Now, CBS is airing Beyond the Gates in a plum time slot: at 2:00 p.m. when “As the World Turns” once aired.” Wise choice, CBS.
The show’s cast has been announced, and the core families have been established. We’ll start with the Duprees. Tamara Tunie plays Anita Dupree. Tunie played Jessica Griffin on “As the World Turns” and also played on Law and Order as Dr. Melinda Warner.
Anita Dupree is the Dupress family matriarch and a former singer. She’s a hard worker and tough as nails. Anita’s husband, Vernon Dupree, is played by Clifton Davis, a former Senator and part of the Civil Rights movement. He’s humble and wise.
Daphnee Duplaix, who played Rachel Gannon on “One Life To Live,” plays Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson. She’s a high-achieving psychiatrist and is Anita’s daughter. She’s down-to-earth and compassionate.
Karla Mosely, who played Maya Avant Forrester on “The Bold and The Beautiful,” plays Dani Dupree, a former model who gave up her career for love and is also Anita’s other daughter. She’s the wild child of the family.
‘Beyond The Gates’ Spoilers: The Hamilton Family And The Thomas Family
Next, we have the Hamiltons. Timon Durrett plays Bill Hamilton, Dani Dupress’ ex-husband. He’s a narcissist and a criminal defense attorney. He pursues what he wants until he gets it.
Arielle Prepetit, who you may have seen on “Found,” plays Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne, Dani and Bill’s oldest daughter. She lives “outside the gates” and works as a civil attorney. She’s whip-smart and inherited her grandmother’s lovely singing voice. She’s also Chelsea’s sister.
RhonniRose Mantilla plays Chelsea Hamilton, the youngest daughter of Dani and Bill. She’s a social media influencer and a successful model. Chelsea is trying to recreate the life her mother gave up years ago. She’s Naomi’s sister.
Let’s move on to the Thomases. Trisha Mann-Grant plays Dana ” Leslie” Thomas, a longtime waitress and bartender. She’s charming and knows how to talk to people.
Ambyr Michelle plays Eva Thomas, Dana “Leslie’s” daughter and Nicole’s new assistant. She’s determined to get justice for her mother and wants to right a wrong.
‘Beyond The Gates’ Spoilers: The Richardson Family
The Richardsons include Maurice Johnson, who you may have seen on General Hospital and Grey’s Anatomy, who plays Ted Richardson, a plastic surgeon and husband to Nicole.
Brandon Claybon plays Martin Richardson. His character is that of an aspiring politician and Ted and Nicole’s son. Katharine Richardson was a “miracle baby and the youngest Richardson.
Some other characters include Jen Jacob as Ashley Morgan, Ben Gavin as Derek Baldwin, Lauren Buglioli as Vanessa McBride, and Alex Alegria as Tomas “Tom” Navarro.
The soap was created by Michele Val Jean, who also functions as head writer and executive producer. Beyond the Gates is in good hands, as Val Jean is an experienced soap scribe who wrote for General Hospital from 1993 to 2012 and The Bold and The Beautiful from 2012 to 2024.
Val Jean is coming full circle, as one of her first writing jobs was as a “Generations” scriptwriter. We look forward to seeing Val Jean’s juicy stories in store for the audience.
