‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Kristen Alfonso, who plays the beloved heroine, Hope Brady, on the soap, returns to Days as she loses her father, Doug Williams (Bill Hayes).
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The Pain And Loss Is Genuine
The actor, Bill Hayes, passed away in January at 98. Kristen Alfonso spoke with Soap Opera Digest on her long-awaited return and Hope’s devastating loss. Hayes’s death hit her hard.

“I remember exactly where I was when I got the call,”
She said.
“I was in the car and was on my way home, and it was raining, and I found myself not being able to make my way home,”
She continued.
“I was just driving around because I couldn’t believe it.”
Alfonso has been a fixture on Days since April 1983. Alfonso was only 19 when she landed the part of Hope Brady on Days.
The former figure skater and model has enjoyed an epic career. She’s one half of the legendary super couple Bo and Hope, and she’s captivated audiences with her portrayal of Hope for over forty years.
The soap reached out to Alfonso, as she was one of the first actors they called to set up the death arc of Salem’s cherished patriarch, Doug Williams.
The last time Alfonso was on Days in April 2023, Shawn Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer) shot Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) because he thought he was about to shoot his mother.
Alfonso explained that the audience would see Hope’s reaction when she learns that her father has died. She said she and
(Susan Seaforth Hayes) embraced when she returned to the set to film those scenes.
She plays Doug’s wife, Julie Williams, who was also married to the late actor in real life. Thus, this story evokes a lot of emotions, and the pain is genuine.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Kristen Alfonso Praises Susan Seaforth Hayes As A Warrior
On Susan Seaforth Hayes, Alfonso praises her co-star,

“Susan is a true, beautiful warrior,”
She explains, recognizing how difficult it must have been to play this story.
“She really and truly is, to live this loss off-camera and then come to work and have to live it again on camera.”
Alfonso said her performance was heartbreaking as she paid tribute to the character, Doug, and her late husband, the actor.
Hope also gets to play opposite her on-screen son, Shawn Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer), who inadvertently shoots Bo, leaving him in a coma. Hope knows it was an accident and that Shawn believed his mom was in danger. He never would have shot Bo otherwise.
Another reunion she’s looking forward to is with Hope’s cousin, Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves).
“Jennifer and Hope are best friends. They’re cousins, but they’re also sisters and best friends, and in times of loss, they really need to hold each other up.”
Behind the scenes, Alfonso’s reunions on the set were “very bittersweet,” she divulged. “It’s always lovely to see everyone, but the circumstances were unfortunate.
“So sad because it was so real to say goodbye to Doug, and by extension, Hayes,”
She shared.
“He was such a huge part of the show.”
