‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Kate Mansi, who plays Kristina Corinthos-Davis on GH, deserves an Emmy. Her powerful performance as the mafia don, Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) oldest daughter, has been outstanding.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Kate Mansi Was Immediately Involved In A Major Storyline
Soap fans were first introduced to Kate Mansi when she played the plum role of Abigail Deveraux on Days of Our Lives. She won a Daytime Emmy for her portrayal. Mansi stepped into the role of Kristina in May 2023. This was after Lexi Ainsworth and Kate’s riveting vision of Kristina.
Kristina has been through some of the worst moments of her life, and the worst is yet to come. She lost her baby girl after a heated showdown with Ava Jerome (Maura West). She crashed through the window of Ava’s room at the Metro Court, plummeting five stories into the pool.
Kristina suffered a heartbreaking loss, and afterward, she didn’t want to be close to anyone, including her then-girlfriend, Blaze (aka Allison Rogers, played by Jacquline Grace Lopez), whom she promptly broke up with.
Speaking to Michael Fairman TV, Mansi explained how she felt about coming onto GH and being immediately thrust into a major storyline.
“When Frank Valentini (executive producer of GH) invited me to join, I understood I would be part of two key elements. One was the storyline about my on-screen sister’s endometriosis, where I would be a surrogate; I felt it was vital to support such narratives. I also knew I would portray an LGBTQ + character. With those factors, I was excited to say, “Yes, I’m in. I knew we wouldn’t actually have the baby, but only knew the details a month before filming.”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Mansi’s Performance At Kristina’s Daughter’s Grave Was Emmy-Worthy
Mansi’s performance when she went to Adela/Irene’s grave the night Sonny killed Agent John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington) was powerful. She connected with her character’s sense of overwhelming grief. Kristina’s tears and desperate cries for her daughter were palpable.
In one instant, she elevated her performance from exceptional to masterful. The scene with Kristina confronting Ava Jerome at the Metro Court was thrilling and edge-of-your-seat drama, but the scene at her baby’s graveside was gut-wrenching.
Kate Mansi admitted that her Emmy reel for the next Daytime Emmys is Kristina at her daughter’s grave getting soaked by the rain. She looked as if she was about to try to crawl into the grave with her child.
Mansi is a shoo-in to win an Emmy next year. She makes her characters relatable, likable, and genuine. Another scene that showcased her talent was when Kristina spoke with Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) at General Hospital and was counseled about the loss of her child.
Both performances were impeccable. Wagner lost her son, Harrison, in real life in June 2022. On the other hand, Wagner demonstrated quiet strength, which must have been challenging in that situation. It was a genuinely moving scene.
Kate Mansi hints that more heartbreak is coming in the aftermath of her on-screen sister, Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) death. We’ll be sure to look for both Monaco and Mansi to shine. Of course, Mansi will give her standard powerhouse performance.
