King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the Chelsea Flower Show yesterday, as it is one of the most beloved royal family traditions. The show features contests in which prizes go to the best gardens.

Queen Elizabeth And Her Mother, Queen Mary Faithfully Attended The Show

The King was recently named patron of the Royal Horticultural Society. It is a position that Queen Elizabeth proudly took on when she became monarch. It was a tradition that the Queen held close to her heart.

The Chelsea Flower Show started in 1913, and Her Majesty visited the event several times when she was a child. Elizabeth’s mother, Queen Mary, loved to go to the show with her husband, King George.

Queen Mary enticed public interest in the show, and in 1927, she became patron of the Royal Horticultural Society. She attended and promoted the flower show until she died in 1953.

Elizabeth attended the show as Queen in 1952. The Queen attended the flower show more than 50 times. It was one of the first social events she marked on her calendar yearly.

She adored flowers and supported the contest with unwavering devotion. Even in her final days, she attended the show in 2022 on a motorized electric buggy.

It was one of the few public engagements she showed up for in the months leading up to her death. In 2009, the Queen presented her son, then the Prince of Wales, the Royal Horticultural Society’s Victoria Medal of Honor during their visit to the flower show in 2009.

King Charles and Camilla, were joined by Prince (Michael George Charles Franklin) and Princess Michael of Kent, and the Duke (Queen Elizabeth’s cousin) and Duchess of Gloucester. Camilla’s daughter, Laura Lopes, her husband, Harry, and her sister, Annabel Elliot, were also in attendance.

The Children Named Charles  “King of The Compost”

The children from Sullivan Primary School in Fulham created a garden. The children awarded His Majesty a badge of honor for his environmental work.

The kids gave him a new nickname, “King of the Compost,” Charles was thrilled to be bestowed with such a delightful honor.

King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the Chelsea Flower Show yesterday, as it is one of the most beloved royal family traditions.

When he saw the name on his badge, he chuckled and said, “Haha! Quite right!” To enter the children’s special garden, Charles and Camilla had to play a fun game with a lovely bouquet, beginning with the first letter of their names.

The monarch educated the children about the wonders of growing your vegetables,

“There’s nothing more fun than eating something you have grown. You should try it. It makes such a difference. It tastes so different.”

Camilla saw a sculpture of her two rescue pups, Beth and Bluebell, at the Highgrove Gardens shop. The dogs wore scarves and had hand-painted bowls featuring their names.

When the show closes, Charles and Camilla will inherit the dog sculptures and place them in their cherished garden.

Camilla’s favorite garden was the Bridgerton-themed garden inspired by the Netflix show. The display was marked by a sitting area surrounded by a fountain with a secret garden based on the character Penelope Featherington.

The garden design winners this year cultivated a more “curated” appearance. There were beautiful anti-flooding gardens, self-sustaining plants, and various fungi.
