There’s been plenty of talk about shows using AI (Artificial Intelligence) taking over some script writing duties, and it’s something ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers questioned given the chaotic way the show was going.
With the notion of using computers to write a script or book in hours compared to days or months it takes people, respectively, gaining ground, one site decided to give it a test run to see how it did and the results were frighteningly hilarious.
Soaphub.com wrote their weekly spoilers with an AI as a test and there were some fun mix ups with names and storylines.
While the mistakes were comical. It seems to be a way of getting us comfortable with the technology being used more often.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Replacing tried and true
It’s always been human nature to make jobs easier, and when you add in how AI costs less than people working, similar to assembly lines, it seems only like a matter of time until it takes over our entertainment.
There have been reports that SI has been using it for a while and that’s why they let go of their staff, and we’ve been introduced to various AI songs and books.
The latter are often a shade of what could be and some have allegedly used established author’s likeness and names to sell the subpar works.
Others have embraced it as a tool or use it to write segments they don’t want to or can’t for various reasons, but the public are speaking out against it.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers will point to the comments on the Soap Hub article as proof of that since AI flubbed it big time.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Removing the heart
While there’s no doubt AI will get better as it depends on the information given to it, the question then becomes if we are willing to accept art that has no heart or soul or natural creativity?
It’s a question that was often asked in shows like ‘Star Trek’ and science fiction books, but it’s one we’ll be facing before too long.
And given how shows like ‘General Hospital’ are lower budgeted, could using AI to write the scripts be viewed as a legitimate cost cutting tool?
It would also be one step closer to using CGI instead of real actors, and all of this following a pair of strikes that we were told repeatedly were meant to prevent this.
It’s an interesting time for fans and creatives alike.
What do you think? Should or will AI start writing ‘General Hospital’ and other shows? Let us know in the comments below and check back with ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers for the latest updates, spoilers, and speculation around.
