‘General Hospital’ Spoilers reveal that fan favorite and heroine Sasha Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) may leave Port Charles for good. There are so many reasons she would want to go, but only one valid reason she would like to stay: Cody Bell (Josh Kelly).
Understandably, Sasha would want to leave town and leave all the pain she has experienced in the past couple of years behind her. Sasha has lost so much. She has also been through much more than most characters on the show.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sasha’s Tragic History
First, Sasha got hooked on drugs after her breakup with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). Then, just as it seemed, she finally found happiness with Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) and was ready to start a family with her man. They lost their baby, Liam after he was born.
Liam’s death took a long time for Sasha to come back from. Not to mention another round of being addicted to drugs, but Sasha pulled through and married the love of her life, Brando, only for him to be killed mercilessly in the Charlie’s Pub alleyway by the hook killer.
Sasha’s mother-in-law, Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs), seemed like she honestly wanted to take care of Sasha and had her best interests at heart when she took over the role of Sasha’s guardianship. However, Gladys turned to her old selfish, greedy ways and stole Sasha’s money for Selina Wu’s (Lydia Look) backroom poker games at the Savoy.
When Sasha proposed the idea that she take back her life and end the guardianship, Gladys couldn’t have been any more wicked and conniving, as she had her poker buddy and, conveniently for her, Sasha’s psychiatrist, Dr. Montague (Darin Toonder) cook up a scheme to remain Sasha’s guardian and keep control of her money.
The two decided to get her hooked on pills again to make Sasha unfit and keep control of her money. Sasha was sent to Ferncliff when she stabbed Cody, thinking he was Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), due to hallucinating because of her pills. We all know the rest of the story.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sasha Will Leave a Void
Now, Sasha wants to leave town and go to Austin, Texas, to start over. She doesn’t want the painful memories to haunt her by sticking around.
As usual, Sasha is relatable and justified. However, we all wanted to see a romance develop between Sasha and Cody.
It also would have been good for her to empower herself, put Gladys and Dr. Montague in jail, and get the justice she deserves.
Sasha is the most rootable character on the show. If she leaves, there will be a significant void in her absence.
However, the show just brought back a legacy character, Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer), and Sasha has no familial ties in Port Charles. Also, for no apparent reason, the Deception ladies plan to replace Sasha inexplicably with Blaze (aka Alison Rogers) played by Jacqueline Grace Lopez).
We have known General Hospital to let go of wonderful characters for storyline purposes, such as with Brando and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud). It wouldn’t be much of a stretch for them to send Sasha to Texas to have a happy, drama-free life. At least she would still be alive.
