‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Brick (Stephen A. Smith) has only a first name. Stephen A. Smith has been a fixture on the show since 2007, when he played a nameless television reporter during the Metro Court Hostage Crisis.

He made such an impression that General Hospital gave him his own character, “Brick.” Brick was introduced on the show in 2016.

Stephen was also a huge fan of the show since the heyday of Luke and Laura (Tony Geary and Genie Francis). When the executive producer, Frank Valenti, found out, he wanted him on the show.

Maurice Benard and Stephen A. Smith are good friends. Maurice encouraged the popular commentator of ESPN’s First Take to audition, and the role was created for him.

It was decided that Stephen would play an “expert” who worked with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) in the mafia. He was asked to wire Paul Hornsby’s (Paul Satterfield) office.

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The First Impression of Brick

    Brick and Sonny

From the moment we saw Brick, he was as cool and smooth as velvet. Brick was a character that fans wanted more of. The interaction between him and Maurice was spectacular.

Brick returned in 2019 to help Sonny find his son, Dante Falconari (Dominic Zamprogna). He made a couple of memorable appearances. Fans enjoyed Brick making another stop in Port Charles.

Then, Brick made a comeback again in 2020. He made several appearances during that year. Upon Carly Corinthos’s (Laura Wright) request, he investigated the villainous Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier).

He helped Sonny and Jason catch Julian Jerome (William DeVry) after he took part in bombing the Floating Rib, and he was en route to Canada.

Fans, once again, took a liking to him. He returned to the show a couple of times in 2021 and killed one of Cyrus’s men while protecting Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).

Cameron Webber (William Lipton) then shot Jason in the back.

Brick took Jason and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) to a safe house. He made a few appearances in 2022.

    ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Brick’s Intuition

The thing about Brick is that he knows when to speak up and when to keep his mouth shut. He is exceptionally loyal to Sonny, and he helps Sonny avoid suspicion when it comes to the Feds.

Longtime fans appreciate Brick for his honor and the fact that he is a straight shooter. Not only is he highly intelligent, but he is also very perceptive.

Brick knew there was something off about Sonny’s new hire, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer). He was right. Dex was hired by Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) to help him set up his father.

'General Hospital' Spoilers Brick meets Dex

Brick lives by the rule: trust is earned, not given. His job is to protect Sonny and his men from all threats, and he is a fantastic ally. Brick came back to Port Charles this April.

Stephen A. Smith has said his top priority is not to mess up! He compares working on

General Hospital is like football. He compares himself to the main cast by saying that the significant players play their butts off, “and then the kicker comes in and misses.”

Stephen A. Smith is a basketball analyst, an avid sports fan, and an admitted soap opera fan who is also an actor who plays on General Hospital.
