Y&R’s Chance and Sharon have been good friends. As the proprietor of Crimson Lights, Sharon often dispenses encouragement and advice along with her beverages. She has listened when Chance has been tormented by the bust up of his marriage.
Chance found that his wife, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), was cheating on him with Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). As he dealt with that, he definitely needed emotional support.
Chance has been there for Sharon when she faced danger from Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby). Cameron terrorized her and kidnapped her daughter, Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster). Cameron had a knife to Sharon’s neck, but she was able to stab him.
This was a horrific ordeal for Sharon to endure. After Cameron died, there was still danger because he had strapped a bomb to Faith. Chance had to deactivate the vest.
Their friendship has been an encouragement to them both. They have been there for each other during difficult moments. Occasionally there has been some flirtation, but it has not been excessive. While there is a 13-year age gap between them, they have connected well on a personal level.

Chance comes to Crimson Lights with the good news that he has arrested Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). She has finally turned herself in and the manhunt is over. His enthusiasm is met with Sharon’s excitement.
She shares her news that she has inherited a company from the evil Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby). Instead of selling the company, she wants to use it to make a positive difference in the world.
Chance is really captivated by her joy. He hasn’t seen her this carefree and excited. It’s a turn on for him and they begin to make out. She locks up and they take their encounter back into her office.
While this seems to have surprised them both, they also agree they don’t regret it. The question is, did this happen just because there was some attraction and some excess energy?
