Riley from 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days has been spending time in Vietnam so he can get to know his girlfriend, Violet, better. So far, it has been a very interesting trip for him because of how Violet has been acting.
She has received texts from a man wearing no shirt and when Riley asked her about it, she told him that he’s just a friend. Of course, Riley thinks that she is lying to him and calls her out on it. Not only did this happen, but it was right before he went to meet her family.

While touring the sites in Vietnam, Riley and Violet sat down to talk more about their feelings. Violet told him that she thought he was acting very rudely when they were at dinner with her family. That is when it came out that Violet’s mother thought that Riley was acting “jealous” and wanted to “control” her.
He told her, “I’m not trying to control you. I’m trying to understand what’s going on.” She added, “When you come visit my home, you don’t buy a flower or some chocolates. Very bad. Yeah, very bad in Vietnam.”
Riley, of course, felt terrible that he would have disrespected her mother in any way. He then said to Violet, “My question to you is, when are you going to learn about my culture? You call me ‘fat’ and ‘ugly’ in front of people.
In my culture, in America, that’s rude. That’s disrespectful, especially when a woman says that about the man that she’s with.” She did apologize to him, and then told the cameras, “To make this relationship better, I think I need to change myself a bit, too.”
Riley really does think that they have major potential and he is not willing to give up on things between the two of them. He told Violet, “I think we have the opportunity to make this something good by paying attention to each other, by asking questions. I’m willing to try because I care about you.”
