Mulan’s voice actress in the Mandarin version of Disney’s “Mulan,” Coco Lee, has committed suicide.

Carol and Nancy, Coco’s sisters, claim that after attempting suicide at home on Sunday, she was taken to a hospital where, despite efforts to revive her, she lapsed into a coma and passed away on Wednesday.

Her family claims that Coco sought professional care for her depression and that she had been suffering from it for years. However, in recent months, her health had severely worsened, and she ended up killing herself.

“Singer CoCo Lee has died after a suicide attempt, her sisters confirmed in a Facebook post on Wednesday. She was 48.”

The Oscar-nominated song “A Love Before Time,” which Coco sang as part of a three-decade singing career, was used in the film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” in addition to her work with Disney.

Although she went to middle school and high school in San Francisco, where she was named Miss Teen Chinatown in 1991, Coco was born in Hong Kong.

She was the first Chinese artist to become successful in the United States; her 1999 single “Do You Want My Love” peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Breakout list.

In their remembrances, Coco’s family said that she worked “tirelessly to open up a new world for Chinese singers in the international music scene, and she went all out to shine for the Chinese.”

We wish the best for her family during this tough time. Rest in peace, Coco. She was just 48.
