The popular boy band Astro’s Moonbin, a K-pop sensation, has passed away.

Fans were informed of the devastating news by Astro’s record company, Fantagio, on Wednesday, saying that the singer “left us and became a star in the sky.” The company claims that, along with his family, a sizable fan base, and numerous other artists, it is “deeply mourning” the tragic demise.

The family will hold a private funeral with close family, friends, and coworkers, according to Fantagio. He was apparently discovered dead in his flat in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, by South Korean police after allegedly missing a recent rehearsal; an official cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Fans of Moonbin are aware that he began working as a model in 2004 when still a young child, then shifted into acting, landing his first role in the Korean drama “Boys over Flowers” in 2009.

In 2016, he made his Astro debut alongside MJ, Jinjin, Rocky, Cha Eun-woo, and Yoon San-ha. They later released other successful songs, such as “Candy Sugar Pop” and “Baby.” In the latter half of February of this year, Rocky left the K-pop band.

Due to health issues, Moonbin briefly left the band in 2019, however, he returned the following year. The band was supposed to perform in mid-May, but it has apparently been postponed.

He was just 25 years old.
