In the event that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle opt to participate in King Charles III’s Coronation, it seems that they will need to arrange for someone to watch their children.
Harry And Meghan May Need Babysitter In Order To Attend Coronation
An invitation has been extended to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to attend the event. However, it is uncertain whether they have accepted the invitation.
Sources have indicated that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who are considered to be too young, have not been extended an invitation despite being the grandchildren of the new King.
One significant challenge is that Archie’s birthday is on May 6th, which is also the day of the Coronation. While there is no formal regulation that prohibits young children from attending a monarch’s coronation, it is customary for young royals to stay at home.
Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother, is a likely candidate to care for her grandchildren as she has assisted with childcare previously.
Doria is in close proximity to Harry and Meghan’s residence. Additionally, a nanny named Lorren Khulamo was hired to care for Archie shortly after his birth, and is still employed to care for both Archie and Lilibet.
Besides entrusting the children to their grandmother or caregiver, one alternative could be to ask a trusted companion like tennis star Serena Williams or talk show icon Oprah Winfrey to look after them.
With that being said, a source said: “Archie’s birthday falls on May 6th, coronation day and the Sussexes want the family to recognise that.
“The Sussexes have asked for some kind of celebration or acknowledgement to be factored into the day’s plans to ensure that his fourth birthday won’t get lost during the momentous day.”
Several individuals, however, have noted that Harry participated in a polo game on the day of his son’s birthday last year.
He was accompanied by Nacho Figueras. Both Harry and Nacho were seen riding horses during the game. It is not surprising, then, that the social media response towards the Duke and Duchess was damning.
Large numbers of people were of the view that the Coronation would be better off without the pair since they would simply upstage the event. One person wrote: “Just stay at home in America. Pair of melts.”
