We are extremely happy to announce that some of our favorite shows have been nominated for the 2020 Writers Guild Awards. Three soap operas have been given a nomination this year and we wish them the best when the awards are handed out on February 1, 2020.
Nominations for The 2020 Writers Guild Awards (WGA) – General Hospital, Days of Our Lives & The Young and the Restless Nominated!
‘General Hospital’, ‘Days of Our Lives’, and the ‘Young and the Restless’ all received their nominations this week in the Daytime Drama category. There are some other great shows nominated this year as well. Shows such as The Crown, The Handmade’s Tale, Mindhunter, Watchmen, Barry, Russian Doll, Veep, Dead to Me, Chernobyl, The Terror: Infamy, True Detective, Conan, Saturday Night Live, and many digital news shows. The shows this year are incredible and we are excited to see which Daytime Drama gets the award.
This is the 72nd annual Writers Guild Awards and there are two ceremonies this year. One is in New York, while the other will take place in Los Angeles. This is a very exciting time for our favorite soap operas and we cannot wait to see who gets to be the big winner!
Nominations for The 2020 Writers Guild Awards
Last year, ‘General Hospital’ won the Writers Guild Award in the Daytime Drama category and has won eight other times. Days of Our Lives has won twice and their most recent win was in 2014. The Young and the Restless has won a total of five times and their most recent win was in 2013.
The writers are ‘Days of Our Lives’ are Lorraine Broderick, Ron Cavlivarti, Joanna Cohen, Carolyn Culliton, Richard Culliton, Rick Darughon, Dave Kreizman, Rebecca McCarty, Ryan Quan, Dave Ryan, Betsy Snyder, and Katie Schock.
‘General Hospital’ head writers are Shelly Altman and Christopher Van Etten. The associate head writers are Anna T. Cascio and Dan O’Connor. Their support team of writers are Barbara Bloom, Suzanne Flynn, Charlotte Gibson, Lucky Gold, Kate Hall, Elizabeth Korte, Donny Sheldon, and Scott Sickles.
‘Young and the Restless’ writers are Amanda L. Beall, Jeff Beldner, Sara Bibel, Matt Clifford, Annie Compton, Christopher Dunn, Sara Endsley, Janice Ferri Esser, Melinda Hensley, Lynn Martin, Anne Schoettle, Natalie Minardi Slater, and Teresa Zimmerman.We are very happy with the nominations that we have seen so far and we wish all of the writers the very best! We know we will be watching on February 1st, 2020 and may the best writing team win!
