We’ve known for awhile that James Charles is trying to do his own makeup brand, and people feel that he’s a little late to the game and that he should have released this back in his heyday in 2018. (Though, if he had released it back in his heyday it may not have done so well on the heels of dramageddon… ahem.)
Now that he’s free of that particular scandal it seems that he is trying to launch this brand using his own money, he says. He says he has no investors (some people have interpreted that as shade towards Tati Westbrook, who did have investors in her beauty company… and it still went south. Yike!)

But now people are saying that the brand is going to tank before it ever gets started, simply because James Charles does not have enough money to have a successful brand launch.
Now he’s trying to choose a face for his brand, by asking his audience to submit looks for his makeup brand. Thing is, as of right now we don’t even have a name for the brand, but he says 10 of the winners will be flown out to LA for the campaign for his new makeup brand. 10? Really?
Hope he’s got a jetblue discount, because 10 airplane tickets for random people from random places is going to get extremely expensive, but perhaps he’s factored that in. Also, does he plan on sending PR makeup out to the people that enter so that they can create looks with his line?
That’s going to get expensive too, if that’s the plan.. Especially considering the brand is only a twinkle in his eye right now. However he says its ready to launch, and that he will be adding a ton of people to his PR list, so it may not be just 10 people he’s sending out makeup to.
Again, this is going to get very expensive for James Charles, since he says he’s the only one financing it. Still, it’s an interesting idea and you can tell that his heart is definitely in the right place since he’s trying to include the people that seemed the most interested in his makeup launch and trying to essentially put people on the map as far as makeup artistry and modeling goes.
It’s an awesome idea, in theory, in practice it may be a bit cumbersome to pull off, however, and we know how some first launches can go… anyone remember Tanacon? We’re hoping that things go better for James. Stay tuned!!!
