Paul Burrell, who was once a royal butler, agreed with Prince Harry’s opinion that he was raised in the shadow of his sibling, Prince William, as the latter was already being groomed to be the future monarch.
Paul Burrell Agrees With Prince Harry’s Comments That He Was A Spare-‘He Lived In His Brother’s Shadow’
The butler who used to work for the Royal Family was employed for 21 years, including when the late Princess of Wales was alive. And it seems that Harry knew that William was the one who was the future heir, which may explain the title of his memoir, Spare.
But for all the division that may have emerged, Burrell made it clear in no uncertain terms that it would have been Diana’s wish to see the two brothers supporting each other. Sadly, this has not been the case, as Harry left the firm in 2020 with his wife, Meghan Markle.
In his comments, Paul said: “I agree with what I have heard he says in his book, he lived in his brother’s shadow but his mother always knew that and I thought Harry embraced the fact he would always be number two in line and be there to support his brother.”
With that being said, Harry’s memoir claims that he was not the best man at William’s wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011, even though the royal palace declared him to be. Instead, his close friends James Meade and Thomas van Straubenzee performed the best man duties.
Not only that, but Harry recalled his brother assaulting him, as well as shouting and screaming at him during a meeting over Megxit. And that had left Harry feeling aggrieved. In his comments in the book, he remarked: “The public had been told that I was to be best man, but that was a bare-faced lie.
“The public expected me to be the best man, and thus, the palace saw no choice but to say that I was.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this?
