The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, in his memoir called “Spare,” recollected how he brought a bottle of the aroma that his mother, Princess Diana, loved to a therapy session, while trying to cope with his anguish after her abrupt demise.
Prince Harry Recalls Smelling His Mother’s Perfume Like LSD During Therapy Session
It is rumoured that Princess Diana had a fondness for a variety of different perfumes: Penhaligon’s Bluebell, Hermès 24 Faubourg, and Houbigant Paris Quelques Fleurs, the last of which she wore for her wedding in 1981.
In his book, Harry wrote: “At the start of our session, I lifted the lid, took a deep sniff. Like a tab of LSD. I read somewhere that smell is our oldest sense, and that fitted with what I experienced in that moment, images rising from what felt like the most primal part of my brain.”
Along with Diana’s favourite perfume, Prince Harry also mentioned his father, King Charles III’s fragrance, Dior Eau Sauvage ($112), in his much-anticipated memoir and recollected smelling it the evening before his mother passed away in 1997.
While Harry may have used this as a coping mechanism, his comments towards his father were a little bizarre. The following comments confirmed as much: “He was always sniffing things. Food, roses, our hair. He must’ve been a bloodhound in another life.”
This would seem to suggest that the Prince has had a tough time in dealing with the anguish that was caused by his mother’s passing. And this was reflected in the comments that followed on social media.
Large numbers of people made it clear that Harry had developed an unhealthy obsession and needed to move on from this in a more positive way. One person wrote: “How is sniffing perfume like LSD?
“Harry needs to start off the drugs and alcohol,” while another person stated: “Something stinks alright, and it’s not Lady Di’s perfume.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this?
