Kim Kattrall posted a quote from a recent interview where she addressed her feud with former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker saying, “This is what happens when you go where you’re celebrated and not where you’re tolerated.” she didn’t really elaborate further, but quite a few of her followers did. “
And those who tolerated you were jealous of you!” said one fan. Whether or not that was actually what she meant is anyone’s guess but it did seem that in the interview she was referencing the feud.
Did Kim Cattrall throw shade at Sarah Jessica Parker?
For those that are unfamiliar, when Sex and the City announced it’s sequel “And Just Like That”, Kim Cattrall said that she would not be reprising her role as Samantha Jones, in spite of her character being referenced a lot in the first season.
At first she and Carrie were simply texting back and forth which was easy enough to imitate without the actress actually being there but then after Big AKA John James Preston (Chris Noth) died it seemed like Samantha might step in and play a bigger role, but that didn’t happen, rather she and Carrie continued to play phone tag via text and then there was allegedly a huge off-screen meetup at the end of one of these episodes. We’re not going to lie, with the death of Willie Garson AKA Stanford Blatch it felt really hollow.
But you can’t force an actress to play a role and it was clear that Cattrall doesn’t want to play the character anymore so they had to write around it. Why do Parker and Cattrall hate each other so much? According to sources it was because during the second seasons of Sex and the City Parker was given the role of executive producer which upped her salary and that was why Cattrall got mad.
According to Cattrall, the two had never really been friends and she accused the lead actress of treating her cruelly on the set during the original run of the series. When Sarah Jessica Parker tried to reach out on social media later, she was rebuffed.
As far as the rest of the cast goes, it seems that the “were never really friends” comment extends to them as well, but we don’t really know if they tried to reach out to Cattrall post series, if they did it wasn’t documented. Either way, it would seem that way least one part is going to remain angry about it. Stay tuned!!!
