Now that the first season has wrapped, Sarah Jessica Parker was asked by Entertainment Tonight if she would potentially be okay with a cameo from former co-star Kim Cattral, seeing as in the finale there was a hint that Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) met up for cocktails in Paris.
However as warm as Carrie and Samantha’s relationship may be off-screen, Parker emphatically says that she does not think she would be okay with a cameo from Cattrall. “We didn’t go to her for this, you know,” she says. In the documentary of the behind the scenes of And Just Like That, Michael Patrick King makes it clear that he knows that Cattrall has moved on from playing Samantha.
Sarah Jessica Parker Tells How She Truly Feels About A Potential AJLT Samantha Reunion
However, he did not want it to seem like they were trying to replace the iconic character either. When the newly established fourth member of the group, Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury) showed up he made sure to make both Carrie and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) get up so that it wouldn’t seem like Seema was just sliding into a seat that should rightfully be Samantha’s.
While we’re glad that they established that they aren’t replacing Samantha, because really, who could? That whole segment felt a little… forced.
Speaking of forced, Julie Rottenberg says that John Corbett who used to play Aiden on Sec and the City should be forced to write some apologies for tweeting out earlier in the year that he was going to be on AJLT, and that he was going to be in quite a few episodes as well!
Corbett took a level in trolling because Rottenberg maintains that no such talks were ever in the works behind the scenes so that means that as of right now there are no plans to include Aiden in this reboot, even though a lot of Sex and the City fans do think that they should have ended up together instead of her and Big.
Considering in the second movie they got close and even kissed this would only make sense but on AJLT Aiden might as well have never existed in the first place because when we left Carrie she was making out with the new producer of her solo podcast, “Sex and the City”, nice callback. Stay tuned!!!
