'Selling Tampa' Season 2 Called Off As Cast Cite Racial Discrimination

“Selling Tampa” has allegedly been called off following suggestions that there were cases of racial discrimination.

‘Selling Tampa’ Season 2 Called Off As Cast Cite Racial Discrimination

According to reports, there will not be a second season of the show on the grounds that cast members have cited that said discrimination. This is a major setback for the show, as it hoped to offer a more diverse look on what TV-viewers could see.

The entirety of the cast was made up of women of colour. It attempted to show fans the reality of what goes on in a high-end real estate brokerage firm, much like what we have seen with the Selling Sunset series. Despite that being the case, the cast members could not get on.

Juawana Colbert, who happens to be one of the cast members, had this to say: “When they show us [black women] in a different light — when we’re bickering, fighting and name-calling — they get a Season 2 and Season 3, but that’s not what we were displaying.

“I feel like we weren’t given a second chance, possibly because of what we represented as minority women.” Those comments are very telling for the following reasons. First of all, it would suggest that the network was highly focused on ensuring that there was entertainment rather than showcasing the women in an authentic manner.

Secondly, it has also damaged a lot of trust with the fan base since other sources stated that people had received numerous direct messages wanting to know the viability of another season.

But with this all going on in the background, it left fans none the wiser. The fans on social media did not hold back with their criticism. A certain subset of people felt that the show failed to resonate with the public which is why they were not surprised to see it being scrapped.

One person wrote: “I’m sorry but the show was terrible lol,” while another person stated: “Absolutely terrible.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
