Fans of Ozzy Osbourne were left perplexed after NBC hardly broadcast the rocker’s NFL halftime act on Thursday. The 73-year-old musician was midway through a brand-new song from his most recent album, “Patient Number 9” when sportscaster Maria Taylor started the performance.
The network then moved away for 10 seconds to show Osbourne performing on stage before returning to Taylor and her coworkers. While sportscasters reviewed the Los Angeles Rams vs. Buffalo Bills game, the former Black Sabbath leader sang his popular song “Crazy Train,” as can be seen in fan videos that have since gone viral online.
Fans SNAP At NBC For Not Airing Ozzy Osbourne’s Thursday Night Football Halftime Performance
Some Twitter users criticized the decision as “blasphemous” and “garbage,” while others said it was “puzzling” that NBC thought viewers would prefer to hear a first-half recap than Ozzy Osbourne‘s performance.
Twitter users raged saying, “NBC thinking we’d rather hear a 1st half recap than Ozzy Osbourne’s performance is… puzzling.”, “I cannot believe the nfl played interviews and highlights over Ozzy Osbourne’s halftime performance. That’s just blasphemous”, and “I am so PISSED – @NBC – YOU SUCK!!! WTF?!? I was looking forward to seeing @OzzyOsbourne for days – some of us can’t afford to attend concerts right now. #rockandroll keeps me from falling into the rabbit hole of depression. Ozzy looked so happy for the two seconds we saw him.”
Osbourne appeared on stage for the second time after having “life-altering” surgery in June during the concert. Unfortunately, we did not get to witness it for some reason. Why they thought people at home wouldn’t want to watch the popular rocker is beyond me and we hope that sometime this year we’ll get to witness Ozzy rock out another halftime show. Perhaps, a Super Bowl show? Take it back to the classics again!
