‘Days of Our Lives’ News: Soap Series Victimized By Online Fake News?

‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) News is saying that if there is one term that we’ve gotten to know very well these last several years, it’s definitely “fake news.” A day doesn’t go by that someone in the media doesn’t accuse someone else of spreading lies, or supposed ‘fake news’ in order to help serve their agenda. Well, it looks like everyone’s favorite NBC soap ‘Days of Our Lives’ might have been victimized by the fake news media cycle as there was a cycle of speculation, rumors, and online commentary that fueled viral reports about the soap’s future. Here’s what you need to know.

It all began with TV Line suggesting that the “end was nigh” for the daytime television show. After all, it’s been no secret that ‘Days of Our Lives’ has had a series of problems with budget cuts and restraints along with a decline in their ratings. And while the show has managed to stay on the air for a record breaking 54 years, it seems as though there aren’t a lot of viewers who are interested in the show’s time jump or its future for that matter.

However, all of that changed the moment that TV Line broke the news that the ‘Days of Our Lives’ cast was being released from their contracts, suggesting that NBC was looking to pull the plug on the series. And while the network itself has not made any official comments, many of the show’s stars have helped set the record straight on social media by saying that ‘Days of Our Lives’ is not going anywhere, anytime soon.

So does this mean that the soap has been given the fake news treatment? Possibly so. Other than the TV Line report, which was picked up by many other news outlets such as Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, there is no additional evidence or supported facts that suggest ‘Days of Our Lives’ is ending. Instead, the show is just being put on hiatus to help save the network money. Of course, this could also be a calculated move on the producer’s part to help generate interest in the show and its ratings. Do you agree?
