There have been a lot of rumors going around about both actors. One of the most recent comments about Depp was made by a former Disney executive. This executive, who has yet to be named, told the press, “I absolutely believe post-verdict that Pirates of the Caribbean is primed for rebooting with Johnny as Captain Jack back on board. There is just too much box-office treasure for a beloved character deeply embedded in Disney culture. With Jerry Bruckheimer riding high on the massive success of Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, there is a huge appetite for bringing back bankable Hollywood stars in massively popular franchises.”

The comments made about Depp have yet to be addressed by Disney. Depp was the star of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. He played Captain Jack Sparrow and his fans loved his performance in these movies. Even with the sequels, it seems that the franchise has grown in popularity. There have been other Hollywood insiders to speak out about Depp as well.
One insider suggested that it “isn’t very likely” for Depp to “come back as a star, but they’d probably make Pirates six with Margot Robbie or someone similar.” Robie has mentioned that she is eyeing a reboot of the Pirates movies and would love to be considered as part of it. Of course, her fans would love that too, but there are still others who want Depp back in the movies.
One final Hollywood insider said, “Depp will work again. I do feel someone will give him another chance. He is very talented and likable. A studio will just have to gauge and see if it is worth the risk and value, but he also won public opinion. He gained a whole new fan base through this, and yes, he will be back.”
