Shannon Beador of the Real Housewives franchise posted an update about her beloved pooch, Archie, on her instagram. Poor Archie, she says that the vet has told her that the dog’s immune system is shot and now they’re hoping that between a combo of western and holistic medicine, they can possibly pull him out of the severe decline that his skin is in.
The pictures she posteed on her instagram were absolutely heartbreaking, but you can tell that this is something that is definitely internal that’s going wrong with the animal and not due to any shortcomings on the Beador family’s part.
RHOC: Shannon Beador posts an Archie update
Poor Archie’s skin is red and inflamed, he is wearing socks on both of his back feet and a cone in one of the pictures (not all, because he probably doesn’t need a cone all the time) but Shannon said that he managed to scratch the underside of his front leg raw using just his back foot with a sock on in just minutes.
Some animals do have what they call ‘hot spots’ meaning spots in which they get allergic reactions where they scratch and scratch and scratch and have to endure cortizone injections simply to stop the itching in that one location. One does wonder if that could be Archie’s problem.
Sometimes people reccommend and all protein diet, or a diet supplemented with things like flax seed (which a dog can digest, apparently) in order to improve skin and coat, there are entire dog food regimens dedicated to skin and coat therapy out there.
One does feel for both Archie and the Beador family though, because she said that everyone in her household is up in arms over Archie, and rightly so, pets are family members and when one is in pain… you all are. This is what she said about her pooch in her IG post:
“Archie has not been doing well for the last few months. I want to warn you that some of the following slides are difficult to see. We are taking Archie to our vet and a specialist to get him better, but it is difficult. We are told his immune system is shot. He has been on multiple antibiotics for various skin infections for the last 3 months and has been taking Apoquel.
Nothing helped. Right now we are combining western and holistic medicine in hopes that something will work. Today he scratched his front leg raw with a cone on his head and a sock on his back foot; it happened in just minutes, he is so sad. Please say a little prayer for Archie. We are beside ourselves in the Beador home.”
We at DSD wish Archie better days ahead. Stay tuned!!!
