Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to make their first international trip abroad since the beginning of COVID-19. However, there’s still a lot of controversy surrounding it.
That’s because the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last month skipped out on Prince Philip’s memorial service citing security concerns but are traveling to Holland for the Invictus Games instead. The Duchess of Sussex will travel to the Netherlands with the Duke of Sussex as he arrives for the start of his Invictus Games. Prince Harry founded the tournament for injured and sick veterans and military personnel after his own tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The week-long event in The Hague was originally scheduled for Spring 2020 but it was postponed twice because of the Covid pandemic. That said, Meghan’s attendance at the games has only just been confirmed but it’s understood the couple won’t bring their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
And even though Harry didn’t make it to the memorial service, there’s a chance that he might still make it to London by this summer, despite his security concerns. Apparently, Prince Harry wants to make peace with his father now that they are on much better terms than they were this time last year.
The timing is quite interesting, seeing how next month Queen Elizabeth will become the first British monarch to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee. There’s some speculation that Prince Harry might return to London for the festivities, which might be the reason why he wants to fix some of his relationships with a few members of his family.
One source close to the situation tells The Sun that Harry and Charles have been having secret talks lately. A source told the publication: “There has been a definite thaw in relations between Harry and Charles. They are on much better terms and have been having friendly chats and video calls. It has been suggested to Harry he may live to regret any lingering family bitterness, and he has taken that on board.”
The insider also claimed: “There is a feeling he is coming back more into the fold and wants to be closer to his family.”
