One month after her parents were found dead in their Massachusetts home, actress Alicia Witt is opening up about their sudden passings and her heartbreak.
Robert Witt and Diane Witt were found dead in their Worcester, MA home after Alicia asked for a wellness check to be done on the couple. After growing worried when her calls and texts went unanswered, Alicia asked authorities to have her notoriously private parents checked on.
The Hallmark maven recalled waiting with phone in hand for her parents to call her, upset that she had meddled and gotten a third party involved.
She wrote how the minute she herd the detective’s voice on the call that came in, and not her parents, that “they were gone”.

The passing of her parents “still doesn’t feel real” to Alicia who travelled to Massachusetts earlier this month to attend her parents’ services and mourn with family and friends in private.
Speaking of privacy, it was her mother and father’s extreme dedication to privacy that, in part, took their lives. The Orange is the New Black actress described how difficult it was to speak openly about how her parents died, as privacy was so important to them however, their shock, duel death has become tabloid fodder and “there are some misconceptions rolling around — understandably so.”
The actress wrote in her statement “This is very delicate for me to write because I’m wanting to honor their privacy, which they held so tightly. There’s an awful irony in the fact that, because of the very lengths they went to in order to protect their privacy in life — that privacy has been stripped away in death.”
She went on to say that she “hadn’t been allowed inside my parents’ home for well over a decade; every time I offered to have something repaired for them, they refused to allow workers into their house.”
She claims she tried absolutely everything, “short of petitioning the court system for taking control of two otherwise very sharp, very independent, very capable adults.”
Though no cause of death has yet been released, it appears the two froze to death.
“I had no idea that their heat had gone out. I will never understand how or why they made the choice not to tell me this, not to let me help them with this. My heart is broken.”
It has been reported that no signs of noxious gases or trauma were apparent at the scene of the deaths. On the night of their passing, temperatures had dropped to 15 degrees and it was universally believed that “freezing temperatures, a malfunctioning furnace, a temporary space heater and a home in need of repairs” were all contributors to their passing.
“Our last words to each other were ‘I love you,’ ” Alicia recalled. “That part was simple; never in doubt. They loved me so. I loved them so.”
