The CW television show, Batwoman, featured Ruby Rose in the title role. She filmed one season of the show and then suddenly left. She shocked everyone and many of her fans were curious why she would just up and leave. She hasn’t said too much about what happened on the set, but she has decided that now is the best time to open up about what happened and the full experience of working on the show. The details aren’t so good.
Batwoman: What Really Happened
Ruby decided to use her social media accounts as a way to tell her story. She posted on her Instagram Stories all about the disturbing time she had on the set. Ruby has talked about how the set was very toxic and she even felt like the work environment was very dangerous.
Batwoman: Ruby Rose Opens Up
She accused Peter Roth, a Warner Brothers executive of sexually harassing the female employees and even hiring a private investigator to follow her. She also points out that she still has a neck injury that happened on the set. Roth is the one who pressured her into returning to work just 10 days after she had surgery!
Rose posted, “To everyone who said I was too stiff on Batwoman, Imagine going back to work 10 days after this… 10DAYS!!! (or the whole crew and cast would be fired and I’d let everyone down because Peter Roth said he wouldn’t recast and I just lost the studio millions (by getting injured on his set). I wouldn’t return for any amount of money nor if a gun were to my head…NOR DID I QUIT. They ruined Kate Kane and they destroyed Batwoman, not me. I followed orders, and if I wanted to stay, I was going to have to sign my rights away.”
Ruby had a lot more to say about being on the show and was very expressive on her Instagram Stories. “A crew member got 3rd degree burns over his whole body, and we were given no therapy after witnessing his skin fall off his face, but I was the only one who sent him flowers and cards and then we were tod we had to do a sex scene without a minute to process, we lost 2 stunt doubles, I got cut in the face so close to my eye in a stunt that I could have been blind. A woman was left quadriplegic and they tried to blame it on her being on her phone.”
There are multiple reports that a production assistant on the show was paralyzed when she was working on this set. There weren’t any reports on the man with the third degree burns however.
Rose reported that the show’s filming was shut down due to COVID-19 testing delays.
