A lawyer for Gutierrez-Reed insisted that “sabotage” and a “tampered” crime scene were evidence of the frame job for the shooting last month on the New Mexico film set. Here’s what you need to know.
Critics Are Not Buying Hannah Gutierrez Reed’s Alleged ‘Conspiracy Theory’ On The Set Of Rust
In a statement on Wednesday, Reed’s attorney Jason Bowels alleged the presence of live rounds on the set was “sabotage.” The lawyer said his client shared new “critical” information with local sheriffs as they await findings from the FBI and prosecutors.
“We are convinced that this was sabotage and Hannah is being framed. We believe that the scene was tampered with as well before the police arrived,” Bowles said. However, he hasn’t added any details to back up his claim.
Of course, it didn’t take very long for critics and naysayers to weigh in on the matter on social media. Many of them commented with, “The fact that Hannah Gutierrez-Reed doesn’t own up to her own negligence is just gross. Nic Cage grew angry with her for a reason on his set; she was dangerously nonchalant and high-risk when handling firearms, even around a child actor. This is truly the worst example of a nepotism hire – an extremely inexperienced person taking on the most critical life-or-death job on set,” along with, “This attorney, trying to frame a ghost, keeps forgetting that it doesn’t matter where they live rounds came from. Did Hannah check the bullets and the guns, as per one of the jobs she accepted to do, or not?”
Another critic wrote, “Even if someone intentionally set a live round in play, the normal set safety protocols for gun safety if followed by only one person in the safety chain, would have caught this. But then again the shooter is at fault. You don’t pull the trigger without checking the gun. I don’t care who says it’s unloaded…..it’s common sense.”
