At only 19 years old, Miranda McKeon is battling breast cancer. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer this summer and the Anne with an E star has been fighting ever since. The next step for her is to have a double mastectomy. She recently shared on social media how she was feeling about it all.

    Miranda Shares on Instagram

As rare as it is for a teenager to be diagnosed with breast cancer, it does happen. Miranda has done eight weeks of intensive chemotherapy and she told her fans that she is feeling “a bit bare” afterward. She faces the surgery on Wednesday and she seems hopeful on her Instagram account.

She posted, “The surgery that I’ve been anticipating for almost five months. This will get rid of any cancer and significantly decrease my risk of reoccurrence in the future. This also means that I will be cancer-free.”

Miranda also told her fans that she and her family have been doing a lot of research ever since she found out about cancer. She decided to have the mastectomy and feels positive about the outcome.

She went on to say, “After ten hours of meetings with surgeons and so so so much research, I truly feel like I found the perfect team. Whereas with traditional mastectomies, women are left mostly totally numb in their chest- I will have a sensation preserving mastectomy which is safe from an oncologic standpoint but more care is taken when cutting nerves and nerve grafts are done to reconstruct cut nerves. While it will certainly take a bit of time, I’m so grateful that I will return to looking and feeling like myself!”

Miranda finished her post by adding, “Today step 2/3 will be finalized with radiation to follow. As always, I can’t thank everyone enough for their continued support. The people in mu life show up for me each and every day in ways that are so tender and heartwarming. I’m one lucky girl.”

She has made such an impact on viewers of Anne with an E and her and are very hopeful for her. All of us here send her love and support and healing energies. If you want to see more of Miranda, she is pretty active on social media. She has started to share her cancer journey on her Instagram account and continues to stay incredibly positive through this all. We hope that this step is all she needs to heal.
