Halyna Hutchins’ widow Matthew Hutchins says Alec Baldwin has been reaching out and has been very supportive in the wake of the tragic shooting that left his wife dead. A prop gun that was discharged by Baldwin shot and killed the cinematographer on the set of his latest film, “Rust” this week.
Halyna Hutchins died from her injuries at a nearby Sante Fe, New Mexico hospital, where the movie is being filmed. Joel Souza, director of the film, was also injured. Here’s what you need to know.
Halyna Hutchins’ Husband Says Alec Baldwin Has Been Very Supportive To Their Family
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Matthew said, “I have spoken with Alec Baldwin and he is being very supportive.” Halyna and Matthew shared an 8-year-old son, Andros.
If that weren’t enough, Matthew also told the Insider, “I don’t think there are words to communicate the situation. I am not going to be able to comment about the facts or the process of what we’re going through right now, but I appreciate that everyone has been very sympathetic. I think that we will need a little bit of time before we can really encapsulate her life in a way that is easy to communicate.”
As of press time, it’s unclear how the incident occurred or the circumstances surrounding the discharging of the prop gun.
Halyna’s agency, Innovative Artists, released a statement to the press that said, “Halyna Hutchins was a ray of light. Always smiling, always hopeful. She decided early on she would take the craft of cinematography by storm and the last couple of years proved she was well on her way. Her talent was immense, only surpassed by the love she had for her family. All those in her orbit knew what was coming; a star director of photography, who would be a force to be reckoned with. All of us at Innovative Artists are heartbroken. We mourn for her family and we hope this tragedy will reveal new lessons for how to better ensure safety for every crew member on set.”
